Name of Researcher LAURENCE C. MANGAOIL

Title of the Research Exploring the Implications of Limited Academic Strand to

the Senior High School Students of Northeastern
Integrated School of San Agustin, Inc.

Statement of the Problem This study centralized on the implications of limited

availability of academic strand to Senior High School
students of Northeastern Integrated School of San
Agustin, Inc.
Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:
1. What are the impacts of limited availability of
Academic Strand to Senior High School Students?
2. How does limited academic strand offerings affect
Senior High School students' academic choices,
preferences, performance, motivation, and engagement?
3. To what extent does the absence of some Academic
strand for Senior High School students affect their
readiness for higher education and their career
preparedness?

Scope and Delimitation of the This study focused mainly on the implications of
Study limited Academic Strand offerings to the Senior High
School students of Northeastern Integrated School of San
Agustin, Inc.
The respondents of this study were the Senior High
School students of NISSAI only.
Research Method The study employed a Quantitative Research Design,
 Research Design specifically utilizing Descriptive Research. In this study,
the researchers explored the implications of limited
academic strand offerings to Senior High School students
of Northeastern Integrated School of San Agustin, Inc.,
which was specified, well-defined topic, and measured
quantitatively.
 Sampling Lottery Random Sampling was utilized, resulting in the
selection of respondents from the total population of 109
Senior High School students.
 Participants The study involved 55 selected Senior High School
students from Northeastern Integrated School of San
Agustin, Inc.
 Instrument A survey questionnaire was used. The survey
questionnaire was comprised of questions answerable by
Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, or Strongly
Disagree, wherein the respondents put a check mark
inside the box that corresponded to their answers. The
researchers personally administered the questionnaire
among the 55 selected Senior High School students of
Northeastern Integrated School of San Agustin, Inc. The
questionnaire was designed to be comprehensible and
straightforward, ensuring ease of response for the
respondents.
 Data Gathering The researchers initiated the data collection process by
obtaining a letter addressed to the Senior High School
Advisers of NISSAI, securing a copy of the master list of
enrolled Senior High School students for the first semester
of School Year 2023-2024. Subsequently, respondents
were selected based on the list through the Lottery
Sampling Method.
With the approval of the School Principal to conduct the
study, the researchers distributed the survey
questionnaires to the 55 selected Senior High School
students. Throughout the process, researchers were
present to assist respondents when they need help,
ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the collected data.

 Data Analysis The researchers utilized statistical analysis to interpret and

draw insights from the data collected through the survey
questionnaires. The data were carefully classified and
tabulated to provide an organized representation of the
results. By analyzing the data, the researchers were able to
better understand the research problem and its
implications, providing valuable insights and
recommendations for future action based on the findings.
The statistical tools used were as follows:
1. Frequency and Percentage Count. It was used to treat
the profile of the participants.
Formula: P = f/n x 100
Where: P = Percentage
f = frequency
n = total number of respondents
2. Weighted Mean & Average Weighted Mean. Weighted
mean and Average Weighted Mean were used to measure
the implications of limited academic strand offerings to
the academic preferences and choices, academic
performance, motivation, and engagement, including the
readiness of higher education and career preparedness of
the Senior High School Students at Northeastern
Integrated School of San Agustin, Inc. In addition, the
Likert Scale was also used to interpret items in the
questionnaire.
Formula: WM = Σχ N
Where: WM = Weighted Mean
x = responses
N = total number of respondents
Formula: AWM = ∑ WM n
Where: AWM = Average Weighted Mean
WM = Weighted Means
n = number of questions
Likewise, a pointing system was employed using a Five-
Point Likert Scale. Respondents were asked to choose a
number from 1 to 5 based on the criteria presented, which
were provided as their reference. By using this pointing
system, the researchers were able to accurately measure
and interpret the data collected through the survey
questionnaire. The 5-point Likert Scale was originally
developed by Rensis Likert in 1932. The range is
calculated by (5- 1 = 4) then divided by five as it is the
greatest value of the scale (4÷ 50.80). Afterwards, number
one which is the least value in the scale was added in
order to identify the maximum of this cell. The length of
the cells is determined below:
From 1 to 1.80 represents (strongly disagree)
From 1.81 until 2.60 represents (disagree)
From 2.61 until 3.40 represents (neutral)
From 3.41 until 4.20 represents (agree)
From 4.21 until 5.00 represents (strongly agree)
Importance of the Research The importance of this research work lies in its potential
Work to lead school administrations and policy-makers in
creating effective strategies, interventions, or policies to
solve or minimize the implications of limited academic
strand offerings to SHS students. This might also lead
them to understand the need of comprehensive range of
academic strands.
Reason for conducting the The researchers conducted this study because they aimed

Their purposes are to help school administrations in
creating effective strategies, to increase academic strand
offerings, and to enhance student opportunities as they
continue to foster quality education.
