Chapter 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter represents the Research Method, Materials,

Equipment/Apparatus and Utensils, Procedure, Evaluation of the Products,
and the Statistical Treatment employed in a study about the efficacy of
calamansi peels as main ingredient of fabric conditioner.

RESEARCH METHOD

In this study, a single-group design was used to scrutinize the efficacy of

calamansi peels as main ingredient for fabric conditioner. This method is used
because the study solely focuses on a single subject; the calamansi peel’s
efficacy.

RESEARCH MATERIALS

The following materials were used to conduct the study.

Material Picture Quantity

Calamansi Fruit 500 grams.

Tap Water 1.5 litre

Vinegar (anti-foam) 0.01 litre

Fabcon Gel 0.25 litre

Ethylenediaminetetra 0.05 litre

acetic acid (EDTA)

Anti-bac 0.05 litre

Research Equipment/Apparatus and Utensils.

Procedure

In making the fabric conditioner with calamansi peels, start off by peeling
half a kilogram of calamansi fruits. Then, in a heater, pour 500 ml of tap water
with the calamansi peels and leave it to boil for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, put
the mixture in a blender and blend it for another 8 minutes. After it is
thoroughly blended, put it in an empty basin with a strainer. Before the mixture
get cold, put 250 ml of fabcon gel in the basin and stir so it melts faster. Add
10 ml of vinegar (anti foam), 5 ml of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA),
and 5 ml of anti bac. After mixing, add a litre of tap water and stir until the
mixture smoothens. Finally, transfer the mixture in (a) plastic bottle(s) and you
have it: a fabric conditioner with calamansi peels as main ingredient.

Statistical Treatment

This study used an experimental research design; hence, no volunteers

were required for the data collection because the subject was observed by the
researchers while they were producing the study. A tabular form was used to
compile and summarize the observations, and it was kept for further
examination and interpretation.
