    A TRIP TO THE MOON


    The 1902 sciences fiction film by Georges Méliès. It’s a whimsical and

    imaginative film that showcases Méliès’ pioneering use of special effects

    and bus storytelling.

    The story revolves around a group of astronomers who had a meeting

    and decided to journey to the moon. They built a spacecraft(rocket) that is

    launched from a giant cannon. The spacecraft was ready, the group of

    astronomers got in and was ready to journey to the moon. Upon landing

    on the moon, they encountered strange creatures, including the iconic

    image of the moon with a rocker stuck in its eye.

    After landing, they decided to rest till the next day, but could not sleep

    properly cause of some strange noise they kept hearing, it went snowing

    they had to stand up and set out for the day. The astronomers walked
    around the moon trying to explore and have a good adventure but they

    encountered the moon inhabitant. They were captured by these

    mischievous moon creatures that took them as prisoners. The managed to

    escape but was still chased by these creatures down to where their rocket

    was.

    However, they managed to escape with the help of an Un-excepted ally-

    a group of friendly moon creatures. They assisted the astronomers in

    repairing their damaged rocket and safely returned them back to earth.

    The astronomers successfully return to earth after their eventful journey

    to the moon. They landed safely and were hailed as heroes.


    THE DEVELOPMENT OF FILM IN NIGERIA
    The Nigerian video film has emerged a strong element of Nigeria’s popular culture. It has

    established for itself the unique characteristic ability to meet the entertainment and educational

    needs of the cross spectrum of the Nigerian society. The Nigerian film industry, famously known

    as Nollywood, has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to the late 1960s. It all began with

    the release of the first Nigerian film called “Kongi’s Harvest.” However, it wasn’t until the 1990s

    that Nollywood experienced a significant boom and gained international recognition.

    Nollywood is renowned for its prolific production of movies, making it the second largest film

    industry in the world terms of annual film output. What’s remarkable is that most Nollywood films

    are made on relatively low budgets, yet they manage to captivate audiences with their unique

    storytelling and cultural relevance.

    One of the key factors that contributed to the growth of Nollywood is the accessibility of video

    technology. Nigerian filmmakers embraced the use of video cameras which allowed the use of

    video cameras, which allow them to produce movies quickly and at a fraction of the cost

    compared to traditional film production. This approach democratized the filmmaking process,

    enabling aspiring filmmakers to tell their stories and contribute to the industry’s expansion.

    Nollywood films often reflect Nigerian culture m, traditions, and societal issues. They tackle a

    wide range of themes, including romance, comedy, drama, and social commentary. This

    relatability to local audiences has been a significant factor in Nollywood’s success and popularity,

    both within Nigeria and across Africa.

    Over the years, Nollywood has not only gained recognition on the global stage but has also

    influenced other African film industries. The industry has become a powerful platform for

    showcasing African talent, stories, and perspectives, challenging stereotypes and showcasing the

    diversity of the comment.

    Today, Nollywood continues to evolve and innovate. Filmmakers are exploring new genres,

    experimenting with storytelling techniques, and collaborating with international partner. This

    continuous growth and development have solidified Nollywood’s position as a major player in a

    the global film industry.
