2. Aircraft Requirements

• HF/SELCAL
Both HF Sets are required as well as one SELCAL channel
• ETOPS Capability
Especially in areas east of India, ETOPS will be planned.
• Air Conditioning Packs
Both should be working due to very high terrain in Afghanistan/Pakistan (Hindukush)

6.3 Goa (GOI / VOGO)

Terrain
The terrain is hilly east of the airport, but flat near the ocean. The highest MSA is 4500ft, east of the airport.
The highest obstacle in the vicinity of the airport is 37NM northeast (3431ft).

Weather
Tropical zone – warm, humid climate most of the year;
MAY: hottest month, high humidity (35ºC)
JUN – SEP – Monsoon
DEC – FEB: cool season (night: 20ºC, day: 29ºC)

climate

Airport
Runway: 08/26 - 3430m

Arrival / Parking / Departure

APPROACH may ask for distance and radial inbound GGO. Arriving traffic is kept on R348 inbound,
whilst departing traffic uses R333 outbound.
Parking Positions are normally 7 or 8 on civil apron. Expect high amount of bureaucracy on ground.
For departure expect initially RWY heading, thereafter a right turn to intercept R333 to OKILA.

Terrain
The terrain around the airport is flat. The MSA is all around 1500ft, with a highest obstacle of 250ft.

climate

Airport
Runway 03/21 – 3356m x 46m, PPR for non-scheduled TFC

Arrival / Parking/ Departure

RWY 36 in use: As arrival route from the north east, expect the LELEM2A (L2A) STAR if RWY 36 is in
use, followed by vectors.
RWY 18 in use: Expect the LELEM 3B (L3B) arrival route; in case of delay, a holding overhead URDIV
may be possible.
As the airport has no parallel taxiway and traffic is towed onto the RWY respectively has to taxi back to
apron, separation is increased. Expect delay (15-30MIN) and/or an early speed reduction (minimum clean or
even “reduce 180kts, when able”)
Be aware of intense VFR traffic in the vicinity of the aerodrome! Seaplanes may cross the final or missed
approach path at 500ft!
As there is no numbering for parking positions, expect guidance by marshaller after entering the apron via
TWY B.
On departure expect initially RWY heading and cleared altitude (6000ft), thereafter a turn direct to departure
fix (LELEM).
