Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my strong desire to pursue the Law Clerk program at Seneca College in Canada.
With a passion for justice, a commitment to excellence, and a deep-rooted aspiration to contribute
meaningfully to the field of law, I believe that this program will provide me with the tools, knowledge,
and experiences needed to elevate my career and serve justice effectively.
My name is Sumi Chowdhury, and I hold both LLB and LLM degrees from Bangladesh. Over the years, I
have dedicated myself to the pursuit of justice and quality within the legal realm. I am currently
practicing in Sohel & Associates, a law firm in Bangladesh, where I have been fortunate to engage with
legal cases that have further ignited my enthusiasm for this profession. My vision is to refine my skills,
ultimately leading me to collaborate with reputed lawyers and advocates and start my law firm.
I completed my Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 2010, followed by the successful completion of my
LLB degree in 2014 and an LLM degree in 2015. My experience as a practitioner has been equally
enriching. From 2016 to 2019, I practiced law as an apprentice lawyer in Dhaka Judge court and within a
law firm both. From 2019, I am only practicing in the law firm, gaining valuable insights into the
complexities of legal proceedings.
The Law Clerk program at Seneca College presents a unique opportunity to refine my skills and broaden
my legal horizons. This two-year program offers a comprehensive curriculum taught by experienced
legal professionals. I am particularly drawn to the program's emphasis on skill development as I want to
bring transferable skills to my profession and practice in Bangladesh. Through workshops, firm visits,
court observations, and practical experience through field placements, I am confident I will develop the
technical insight and ethical foundation crucial for my practice.
To ensure my success in the program, Seneca College has conditionally offered me an English Language
Institute (ELI) course. Recognizing the importance of fluent English communication, I am committed to
completing this course and strengthening my verbal and written communication skills.
Studying in Canada presents a numerous advantage over pursuing my education in Bangladesh. The
Canadian education system is known for its excellence, offering a dynamic and globally respected
learning environment and practical skills development. For the brilliance, Canadian education is highly
respected in Bangladesh. Seneca College, in particular, stands out due to its prestigious reputation,
comprehensive curriculum, and high graduate success rate. The opportunity to immerse myself in such
an esteemed institution is a privilege I am eager to embrace.
My career plan revolves around opening a law firm upon my return to Bangladesh. I understand the
importance of learning from seasoned professionals and leveraging their insights for running a law firm.
By learning under a reputed institution and highly experienced faculties, I aim to gain invaluable
expertise in handling intricate cases in an institutional setting. I am more focused on the skills rather
than the title. I will gain transferable skills which are valuable in every state regardless of the difference
in law. Additionally, North American education has an exceptional value in the professional landscape of
Bangladesh. This will demonstrate my dedication and ambition of learning the profession.
I am grateful to have the unwavering support of my husband, who recognizes the significance of my
aspirations and is committed to providing financial support during my studies. My husband, a successful
trader of building materials earns CAD X monthly. He will be sponsoring my tuition, living expenses, and
other costs during my time in Canada. He has provided me with CAD X for my cost of academic, living
and other essentials. This sponsorship ensures that I can fully focus on my studies and achieving my
academic and career goals.
In conclusion, the Law Clerk program at Seneca College is not just an academic pursuit for me—it is a
transformative step towards a future dedicated to justice and excellence. With gratitude for your time
and consideration, I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the Canadian academic community
and, eventually, my own community in Bangladesh.
Sincerely,
Sumi Chowdhury
