FINAL TEST ANSWER 2024

Part A – Conception Define the following concept (2 marks each)

1. System Analysis & Design (SAD)

System Analysis and Design (SAD) is a critical phase in the software development process. It
includes making plans, analyzing them, and designing a system, usually a computer program or
network system, to meet the needs of a business or user.

2. System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

A framework called the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is used in software engineering
and information systems to plan, design, create, test, deploy, and manage software applications
or information systems.

3. System Analyst

A system analyst is an expert who is essential to the software development and information
technology industries. Information systems must be analyzed and designed by system analysts
to satisfy certain business requirements and goals.

4. Requirement Specifications

Requirement Specifications is an essential document in the fields of system development and

software engineering. These documents list all of the precise specifications that an application
or software system needs to fulfill.

5. Level 1 DFD

Level 1 DFD Processes are shown as circles or ovals in DFD notation, and the data flows
between them are shown as arrows.

QUESTION 1

The process of systems analysis is a key element in the fields of software development
and information technology. It enables the acquisition of knowledge, the development of
effective computer-based systems, and the implementation of these systems in different
businesses. An examination of the importance and intent of systems analysis will be presented
in this essay, with a focus on the crucial role that systems analysis plays in modern business
and technology.

Initially, the primary objective of systems analysis is to successfully bridge the gap
between complex business requirements and the technical solutions that are capable of
meeting those requirements. Examining, recording, and comprehending the facts, procedures,
and requirements of an organization can be accomplished through the utilization of this method,
which is organized. The significance of this stage lies in the fact that it lays the foundation for
the development of technology systems that are efficient, helpful, and user-friendly, and which
are designed to serve the strategic goals of a business.

Next, the primary objective of technology analysis is to identify and describe the
opportunity or problem that requires a technological solution. This is one of the most important
purposes of technology analysis. This step requires speaking with clients, such as managers,
end users, and subject matter experts, in order to gain knowledge about the procedures that are
currently in place, the problems that are occurring, and the changes that are required. By
conducting surveys, doing observations, and conducting interviews, systems analysts are able
to gather valuable insights into the operations of a company, which allows them to discover
areas in which technology may have a positive impact on the organization.

To continue, Systems analysts begin by precisely identifying the opportunity or problem

before moving on to the essential process of acquiring requirements and documenting them.
Other than that, System analysts begin by defining the opportunity or problem. At this point, the
requirements for both the functional and non-functional aspects of the system are carefully
determined. To explain how well the system should function, non-functional needs are taken into
consideration. These requirements take into account elements such as usability, scalability, and
security. That which the system must be able to perform is referred to as the functional
requirements. The implementation of this approach ensures that the system in question is
capable of meeting the specific needs of the organization and the people who use it.

Moreover, Systems analysis is also an essential part of cost-benefit analysis, which is

another important aspect. It is possible for organizations to determine whether or not to proceed
with a project by comparing the potential benefits of implementing a new system against the
costs that are associated with conducting such an endeavor. It is essential to conduct this
financial evaluation in order to achieve the goals of allocating resources and taking into
consideration the return on investment.

To sum it up, systems analysis is a crucial step in the IT and software development
industries. The scope of its purpose goes beyond just solving problems, it also includes
assessing the cost-effectiveness of technology, gathering requirements carefully, and organizing
technology strategically to meet organizational goals. Systems analysis is an essential part of
contemporary business and technology because it helps firms succeed in the digital era by
allowing the development of customized, productive, and user-focused computer systems.
