 Produk dan rantai pasokan yang kompleks menghadirkan banyak
kemungkinan kegagalan, terutama ketika produk baru diluncurkan.
Perencanaan Kualitas Produk Tingkat Lanjut (APQP) adalah proses
terstruktur yang bertujuan untuk memastikan kepuasan pelanggan
terhadap produk atau proses baru.
 APQP telah ada selama beberapa dekade dalam berbagai bentuk dan
praktik. Awalnya disebut sebagai Perencanaan Kualitas Lanjutan (AQP),
APQP digunakan oleh perusahaan progresif untuk menjamin kualitas dan
kinerja melalui perencanaan. Ford Motor Company menerbitkan buku
pegangan Perencanaan Kualitas Lanjutan yang pertama untuk pemasok
pada awal tahun 1980-an. APQP membantu pemasok Ford
mengembangkan pengendalian pencegahan dan deteksi yang tepat untuk
produk baru yang mendukung upaya kualitas perusahaan.
 Dengan pembelajaran dari Ford AQP, OEM Otomotif Amerika Utara secara
kolektif menciptakan proses APQP pada tahun 1994 dan kemudian
diperbarui pada tahun 2008. APQP dimaksudkan untuk menggabungkan
aktivitas perencanaan umum yang dibutuhkan semua OEM otomotif ke
dalam satu proses. Pemasok memanfaatkan APQP untuk menghadirkan
produk dan proses baru agar validasinya berhasil dan mendorong
peningkatan berkelanjutan.

Kursus dua hari ini berfokus pada perubahan dalam Manual Referensi Rencana
APQP Edisi ke-3 dan Manual Referensi Rencana Pengendalian Edisi ke-1 yang
baru dirilis.Kelas hari pertama membahas semua elemen APQP, ditambah
perubahan dari Manual Referensi Edisi ke-3, dan mendefinisikannya sebagai
proses di organisasi Anda.
Ini memberikan gambaran umum tentang lima fase APQP dan bagaimana
pengelolaannya sebagai proses dalam perencanaan, pengembangan, dan
peluncuran produk dan proses baru.
Informasi mengenai transisi ke Manual Referensi Edisi ke-3 juga akan
disertakan.Pendekatan yang dibahas dan digunakan dalam kursus ini konsisten
dengan maksud dan pedoman dalam APQP Edisi ke-3.
Kursus hari kedua akan fokus pada pengembangan, implementasi dan
peningkatan Rencana Pengendalian sesuai dengan Manual Referensi Rencana
Pengendalian Edisi 1. Hari kedua akan mengidentifikasi seluruh konsep dan
praktik terbaik yang dipertahankan dalam Edisi 1 serta perluasan strategi dan
penambahan konsep dan praktik terbaik.
