LHT frequently receives actuators PN GA72275-1: F6137 for the next higher assembly Parking Pressure Limiter
PN D24001000 (d-series) from Safran, which are bad from stock due to the internal motors of the actuator failing
the current noise requirement. We have been observing reliability issues with the actuators in general and had to
replace them in 80% of the events in 2023. The main failure is the non-functionality of the motors (A or/and B).
Once we replace the actuators, we need to test them iaw CMM ATA32-47-53 test D. (6) (a) 11 c (Rod Actuation)
and we are struggling to get the value of the current noise within CMM limits of 40 milli-amps. In addition, some
testing parameters like the sampling frequency of the oscilloscope are not defined.
This electrical motor test was added to the CMM in revision 6 dated July 15th of 2019.
The OEM Safran was informed about this issue in 2020 but hasn’t reacted. We tried sending the actuators back
under warranty claims, but the warranty requests are often rejected. The current estimated shipping date for the
next batch of actuators from Safran is August 2024, and we currently have multiple parking pressure limiters
requiring new actuator assemblies.
The similar Parking Pressure Limiter PN C24703003 (c-series) has an actuator with very similar motors inside that
do not have the current noise requirement. We would like clarification from Safran as to why this current noise
requirement was added to the d-series only, and for it to either be removed or have a greater tolerance as it is
becoming increasingly difficult to pass this requirement with new or used actuators.
Rod actuation
- The average current noise shall be less than 40 mA.
- There shall be no shaft travel intermittence (current temporarily falls to zero)

Safran and Airbus, please comment if corrective actions will be provided for either the technology or the
tolerances in the CMM.
Other MRO’s and operators, please comment if you experienced similar problems with this component.
UAL is observing increased removals of these units for maintenance message 29-11100 ADP Speed is out of range
(FIM 838/877).
ADUs have been historically reliable. We are seeing issues now as they extend in age. The ADUs can be put on
MEL, so the units usually do not generate cancelations, but it is better if they are replaced during heavy
maintenance.
UAL is seeking Honeywell, Boeing, and other operator input on extending the life of these units and/or getting early
warning of their failure. UAL is also curious if any operators are proactively removing these units.
EATON and BOEING will soon introduce a new VSB for ACMP PN 3033115-001 (old PN 731966). Modification will
need to be performed in the next 5 years, mandated by an AD.

This modification aims at mitigating risk of fire for a different equipment from another OEM (ELCU PN ELM2011-2
from GE).
ACMP is a very reliable equipment with a low removal rate. This modification will generate many removals
over the next five years. Air France understands that this SB will be Free of Charge if done at EATON’s but
removals will still generate high costs:
o Cost of recertification.
o Pressure on the supply chain, as no LRU are being loaned to AF to support this modification.
Why do the operators have to bear the induced cost of this modification despite not being responsible for the defect?
