1.

Why have you decided to study in UK and not in your home country and any other
country?

ANS: After thorough research I decided to choose UK to pursue my higher studies.

Few of the reasons include……

➢ UK stands at No.2 position providing top quality education around the world,
UK’s universities provide vivid range of programs like engineering, management,
finance and accounting, law, arts, IOT, AI, Cyber security and many more.
According to QS world university rankings 4 of the top 10 universities around the
world belong to UK, which attracts international students to prefer UK as their
higher studies destination.

➢ UK has a very good reputation and degree from UK university is highly valued and
given top preference throughout the world. With this degree and international
exposure, I can easily grab a better career position with high pay in India.

➢ UK universities provide top quality education facilities most of the time students
gain knowledge through practical approach and research facilities provided by
their institution. QAA – QUALITY ASSURANCE AGENCY is an independent body in
UK which is safeguards the standards and improves the quality of higher
education in UK. UK universities have well knitted networking with leading
industries, MNC’s, and many professional bodies.

➢ UK welcomes students from all over the world to fulfil their dream of pursuing
higher studies, this nature makes UK a diverse and a popular destination for
international students.

➢ Universities in UK have an updated & flexible curriculum which mostly follows the
modular system, courses are divided into modules, and credits are given
accordingly. Students have the flexibility to choose modules outside the main
subject area to gain more knowledge. Most of the core modules are research and
practical based, which makes students to learn on their own.

➢ Teaching style in UK universities are mainly student-centred and interactive that

encourages them to be more active in class hours, clear their doubts through
questioning and gain conceptual knowledge through group projects, practical
exercises, mini projects. The students are assessed by course work, assessments,
research dissertation, seminars and presentations.

➢ Whereas in INDIA the teaching style is quite traditional and lecture based, they
mostly approach theoretical way rather than practical way of teaching. The
curriculum is not updated regularly and mainly focuses on theoretical knowledge
rather than practical application. It offers limited choice and less flexibility in
course selection, that makes students to stick to the syllabus and restrict them
from gaining knowledge based on their interests. And ASSESSMENT is done
through written examinations conducted at the end of semester or academic
year, which don’t assess the practical skills of students.

➢ Courses in UK are shorter typically one year, which saves time and money when
compared to other nations like USA, CAN where the course period is 2 years or
more.

➢ Being a global destination for masters UK is also the safest place, the crime rate in
UK has been decreasing in recent years when compared to other countries like
USA where the crime rate is 22% more than UK and homicides by fire arms in
USA is 138 times more than UK. Which makes UK a safer place to live.

situated at the thriving area of East London and I’m going to study at the famous
Docklands campus, it is the first new university in 50 years, it has on campus
ACCOMMODATION with 1200 rooms and 24 hr security.

➢ I applied for MSc in Engineering management with a placement year. In this

course ill learn about engineering principles, analytical skills including research
and project management. This course provides practical skills needed for industry
4.0.

➢ This course has a well-designed module structure. It has 6 modules including

Before I decided to choose UEL, I considered applying for other universities for
studying MSc in Engineering Management.

They are, University of Greenwich, Coventry University London campus.

➢ When I compared the modules, course structure, assessment methods of these

universities with UEL, I felt UEL’s way of approach was impressive and found a
course with a satisfactory curriculum.
➢ In University of Greenwich there is optional NO placement year provided along with
my desired course and the course curriculum is complex and course workload is
similar to full-time job.
➢ The curriculum of this course in Coventry University was hectic with more than 8
individual modules including additional optional modules, even the fee structure is
expensive when compared to UEL. The campus may not provide on-campus
accommodation and lacks in providing wide range of dining facilities. Compared to
the UEL campus Coventry campus has limited area for library and study spaces,
sports ground and other facilities.

There are few unique modules in UEL course structure. Like…..

➢ Mental Wealth in professional life which teaches the role of an engineering
manager by mastering the students in various aspects like latest management skills,
appropriate techniques and contract procedures.
➢ Sustainable energy practice & logistics which teaches the sustainable engineering

➢ Along with these modules UEL provides a placement year option with an affordable
fees structure which other universities lack.
➢ UEL provides top class facilities like on-campus accommodation, indoor & outdoor

These factors made me choose UEL over other universities.
