Estimating Vs

Measurement
LARA TOOKEY
Learning Objectives

 State the definition and purpose of estimating and measurement.

 Outline the difference between estimating and measurement.
 Recognise the various terminologies commonly used in this topic.
 Name the international references that are relevant to estimating and
measurement.
By now you should have:

1. Written down your thoughts on the

differences between Estimation and
Measurement
2. Watched the YouTube clip What's the
difference between accuracy and
precision? - Matt Anticole
3. Made adjustments to your original
thinking – if necessary and taken the first
CHOICE
By now you should have cont.:

4. Reviewed the definitions of an Estimate

5. Reviewed the definitions and looked at
some examples of Measurement
6. Thought about how close (ideal) or far off
(need some work) your answers from
activity 1 are. Submitted your answers
(truthfully) to CHOICE.

Mathematically…
YES, THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE.
