Dear Madam/Sir:

I would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to you and your organization to participate in the upcoming
International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day on September 21, 2024. This globally recognized event is an
opportunity to unite in action and take a stand for our coastal environments, addressing the pressing
issue of marine debris and plastic pollution.

Rationale for the Cleanup


The world’s oceans and coastal regions are suffering from ever-increasing pollution, particularly from
plastics, which negatively impact marine life, habitats, and even local economies reliant on coastal
resources. By joining the ICC, we contribute to data collection that informs global environmental
strategies and policies. Locally, our efforts help clean and restore our coastlines, making them safer and
more beautiful spaces for residents and visitors alike.

What You Can Do to Prepare:


1. Mobilize Volunteers – Encourage participation from your organization, residents, local groups,
and youth organizations. The more hands, the greater the impact!
2. Identify Key Areas –Identify priority areas in your jurisdiction that need cleanup, including
beaches, rivers, and other waterways.
3. Coordinate Logistics – Please coordinate to arrange for trash collection points.
4. Safety and Supplies –Wear protective clothing, including hats, gloves, and closed-toe shoes. We
recommend bringing reusable water bottles to stay hydrated.

What to Expect on the Day of the Event:


 Date: September 21, 2024
 Time: The cleanup will start at 6:00 AM and conclude at 8:00 AM.
 Location: [Designated Coastal Areas, shores or rivers] at your selected barangay.
 Registration: All volunteers are requested to register upon arrival.
 Documentation: Please take pictures using the GEOCAM App for date/time and location stamp.
 Data Collection: Volunteers will be asked to log the types and quantities of debris collected,
which will be submitted for global tracking and analysis. Assign a Coordinator per organization.
