1.0 SCOPE

This method statement covers the detailed procedure to be followed for blinding
operation in grade slabs, grade beam, footings and trenches. This procedure shall be
read in conjunction with contract specification wherever applicable.

The purpose of this procedure is to define how blinding shall be carried out under
controlled condition.

The PM is responsible for the overall implementation of Method Statement. The

Project Manager shall ensure that the key personnel are well aware of the
Specification and Method Statement.
➢ CM / Project Engineer shall arrange all materials, equipment, safety related items
& manpower & direct the Site Engineers & foremen to resort appropriate action
for the smooth execution of the works.
➢ Safety Engineer shall be responsible for safe working environment & conditions.
Coordinate with Site Engineer potential hazards before works, methods of safe
working from new developments.
➢ Surveyor shall be responsible for setting out for levels, layout, and lines &
establish top levels. Ensuring setting out books are properly maintained and filed
when completed. To coordinate with the CONSULTANT surveyor in determining
coordinates, levels, and limits.
➢ QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for ensuring that execution of works are
complying with approved method statement; specifications, approved shop
drawings and ensure ITR are submitted based on ITP requirements.
➢ Site Engineer shall ensure that all works are carried out according to approved
shop drawings. He shall direct the surveyor for the setting out lines & levels in
concurrence from the Construction Manager/Senior Civil Engineer.
➢ MEP Coordinator / Engineer shall be responsible for proper execution of MEP
works involved before, during and after concreting works

8.0 SAFETY & HEALTH

➢ All employees shall be provided with complete personal Protection equipment

PPE.
➢ All employees shall attend Safety Induction and training Course to identify all
Hazards associated with this work.
➢ All workers shall be provided with proper tools and equipment toexecute the work
safely.
Handling & storage

9.0 PROCEDURE
➢ All the related documents such as shop drawings, method statements, material
approvals, subcontractor’s approvals, test certificates, etc must be available upon
request.

➢ Ensure the source of supply of ready mix and grade of concrete.

➢ Compaction test/plate load test of the Substrate shall be approved and available.
Anti-termite treatment is not specified. need to be eloborated
➢ One layer of 1000 gauge polythene sheet shall be laid prior to arrangement of any
blinding. Relevant drawings to be attached

➢ All the concrete encased ducts installation shall be approved from the Engineer.

➢ Ensure the MEP clearance prior to start the activity.

➢ Polythene sheets, hessian cloths and sweet water arrangements shall be

arranged for the proper curing.

Form works

➢ All materials used for formworks should be clean strong and clear from any
deflection.

➢ Install formworks to its dimensions correctly and ensure that alignment and levels
of formworks are within the tolerances.

➢ The shutters will be side supported by steel bars to maintain the proper alignment
of the forms.

➢ Level Guides shall install for the level maintenance of concrete.

Concrete Placement

➢ Blinding concrete for the structures and trenches will be placed using a pump.
Grade of concrete will be according to approved concrete design mix.

➢ Concrete shall not be placed more than 1.5 m height.

➢ After completion of casting, enough number of workers must be available for the
finishing works, cleaning and protection of the casted concrete.

Curing

➢ Concrete have to be cured by sweet water as instructed by the Engineer. All the
surface of foundations will be covered by wet sack cloth to maintain this.
