o Objective: Solidify the concept of decimal division through practice.

4. Closure (15 min)

o Discussion: Go over common errors and strategies for dividing decimals.

o Homework: Assign practice problems on decimal division.

o Observation: Monitor student progress on decimal division and provide feedback.

Day 3: Introduction to Percentages

Date: 01/10/2024
Time Allocation: 1 hour

1. Warm-Up (10 min)

o Activity: Discuss real-life applications of percentages (e.g., discounts, grades).

o Objective: Connect percentages to everyday situations.

2. Lesson (15 min)

o Instruction:

▪ Explain what a percentage is and how it relates to fractions and decimals

(e.g., 50% = 12\frac{1}{2}21 = 0.5).

▪ Use examples like 25%, 50%, and 75% to illustrate the concept.

o Objective: Introduce the basic concept of percentages and how they are used.

3. Interactive Activity (20 min)

o Activity: Have students convert between percentages, fractions, and decimals with
guided examples.

o Differentiation: Provide scaffolding for students who struggle with conversions.

o Objective: Ensure students understand the relationship between percentages,

fractions, and decimals.

4. Closure (15 min)

o Discussion: Review key concepts and provide additional examples.

o Homework: Assign a worksheet on converting between percentages, fractions, and

decimals.

o Observation: Evaluate students' initial understanding of percentages.

Day 4: Finding Percentages of Numbers

Date: 02/10/2024
Time Allocation: 1 hour

1. Warm-Up (10 min)

o Activity: Quick review of converting percentages to decimals and fractions.

o Objective: Reinforce the concept of percentages.

2. Lesson (15 min)

o Instruction:

▪ Teach how to find percentages of whole numbers (e.g., 20% of 50).

▪ Use visual aids like pie charts to illustrate percentage problems.

o Objective: Ensure students understand how to calculate percentages.

3. Interactive Activity (20 min)

o Activity: Students solve real-world problems involving percentages (e.g., calculating

discounts).
o Differentiation: Offer additional support for students struggling with the concept.

o Objective: Apply percentage calculations to practical scenarios.

4. Closure (15 min)

o Discussion: Review strategies for calculating percentages and address common

mistakes.

o Observation: Reflect on students’ ability to solve percentage problems.

Day 5: Review and Assessment

Date: 03/10/2024
Time Allocation: 1 hour

1. Warm-Up (10 min)

o Activity: Play a review game covering decimals and percentages (e.g., Kahoot,
flashcards).

o Objective: Reinforce learning in an engaging way.

2. Review Session (15 min)

o Discussion: Go over key concepts from the week. Answer any questions.

o Objective: Clarify any misunderstandings before the assessment.

3. Assessment (20 min)

o Activity: Administer a short quiz on multiplying/dividing decimals and calculating

percentages.

o Format: Include a mix of multiple-choice, short answer, and problem-solving

questions.

o Objective: Assess students' understanding of the week's material.

4. Closure (15 min)

and percentages.

o Observation: Monitor overall student performance.

Weekly Reflection:

• What worked well this week?

The use of real-life examples (e.g., shopping discounts, money, measurements) helped
students relate to the concepts of decimals and percentages. The hands-on activities,
especially with visual aids like pie charts and manipulatives, made abstract concepts more
tangible for students. Peer collaboration during practice sessions allowed students to learn
from one another, especially in calculating percentages and converting between decimals,
fractions, and percentages.

• Which activities engaged the students the most?

The interactive review games (such as Kahoot and flashcards) kept students engaged and
motivated. The students also enjoyed solving real-world problems, particularly calculating
percentages for shopping discounts, which they found relatable. The pair work in multiplying
and dividing decimals encouraged discussions and deeper thinking, as students could explain
their reasoning to their partners.
• How can I improve student understanding for future lessons?
In future lessons, I will increase the use of real-world examples, as this seems to improve
student engagement and understanding. I will also integrate more formative assessments
throughout the week to identify struggling students early and provide targeted support
before moving on to new concepts. More opportunities for group discussions and peer
feedback will help reinforce learning, as students benefit from explaining their thought
processes to others.

• Did I achieve my teaching objectives?

While most students met the objectives for multiplying decimals and calculating
percentages, a smaller portion still struggled with decimal division and conversions between
decimals and fractions. I will revisit these topics briefly in next week’s lessons to ensure
students build a stronger foundation before moving on to new material.
