Earth Sci Script
(1): Have you ever thought about the stories Earth’s rocks could tell? Deep
underground, molten magma is constantly in motion. Watch this short clip…..and
that’s how rocks are formed and have shaped the world we know today.

(1): But that’s not the whole story! Earth’s rocks go through a cycle, changing forms
over time. From fiery beginnings to layered sediments to rocks transformed by heat
and pressure… today, we’ll explore the incredible Rock Cycle and the three types of
rocks it creates.
[ROCK CYCLE]
(3): What is Rock Cycle? Rock Cycle is the process where rocks continuously
transform between three types: Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic rocks. The
cycle involves cooling, heat, pressure, and even melting!
(3): Igneous rocks are born from fire—literally! They form when magma cools and
solidifies. If this cooling happens deep within the Earth, you get rocks like granite.
But if magma cools quickly at the surface, it forms rocks like basalt.
[FORMATION OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS]
(4): Next, we have Sedimentary rocks. These rocks are formed by the accumulation
of sediments—tiny particles of sand, silt, and minerals. Over time, they’re compacted
and cemented together, creating rocks like limestone or sandstone.
(4): Finally, Metamorphic rocks. When existing rocks are exposed to intense heat
and pressure, they undergo metamorphism, which means they change form. This
process turns rocks like limestone into marble, or shale into slate.
[OUTRO]
(michiko): So, whether they’re born from fiery magma, compacted sediments, or the
intense forces within the Earth, all rocks are part of an endless cycle. The Rock
Cycle—nature’s way of keeping Earth in constant transformation.
(michiko): And that’s the story of rocks, they’re more than just stones—they are
Earth's storytellers.
