VFR - Takeoff briefing

 It’s a Normal/Short field/ Soft field/ Crosswind takeoff, flaps __°


 Wind’s coming from ___° at ___kts. Crosswind component ___kts.
 Takeoff distance is 800 ft, 4 runway lights confirmed. (Separated by 200ft)

We’ll confirm:
 Power set
 Carb heat off
 Airspeed alive
 Vr at 50 kts

Normal departure procedure :


- Take off from RWY 27/09 (turn L/R) (Go directly)
- Flying to Circuit Altitude
- Eastbound Heading climbing to 3000’ to the practice area

1) In case of an emergency before the Vr


We’ll Reject takeoff :
- Power – Iddle
- Brakes – Apply
- Flaps – up
- If critical, secure the engine:
Mixture off
Fuel selector off
Magnetos off
Master switch off
Evacuate
- If not critical – clear the runway and taxi back to the ramp

2) In case of an emergency after the lift off speed, during the initial climb below
500ft AGL:
- Best glide 60 kts
- Landing in the 30° on each side of the windshield center line
- Secure the engine :
- Mixture – Off
- Fuel selector – Off
- Magnetos – Off
- Flaps – As required
- Master Switch – Off
3) In case of an emergency between 500ft and 1000ft AGL:
- Best glide 60 kts
- Landing in the 90° on each side of the windshield center line
- Secure the engine
- Mixture – Off
- Fuel Selector – Off
- Magnetos – Off
- Flaps (if required),
- Master Switch – OFF

4) In case of an emergency above 1000ft AGL, depending on the conditions:


- Best glide 60kts
- Select a field or 180° to come back to the runway
- Try to restart the engine
Mixture – full
Power – ¼
Magnetos – start
- Secure the engine
- Mixture – Off
- Fuel Selector – Off
- Magnetos – Off
- Flaps - as required
- Master Switch – Off

Pre Flight Inspection


- Fluids Inspection
1. Fuel quantity each wing (stick or visual) and drain (3)
2. Oil (between 4-6)
- Electrical equipment inspection (Light)
1. Master Switch – On
2. Lights & Pitot – On
3. Check visually each light (4)
- Walk Around
1. Touch and Check (Follow POH)
PASSENGER BRIEFING
1.We’re going to fly on a Cessna 150 (or 172).
2.Fasten your seatbelt and harness (Show
how to do it)
3. In case of emergency in ground, I will ask
you remove your seatbelt and to open the
door by pulling up this handle and then
pushing out the door with the help of your
elbow.
4.You’re going to evacuate towards the back
of the airplane because the propellers may
be still spinning.
5.In case of fire, a fire extinguisher is in the
back of the airplane.
6.In case of injuries, a certified first aid kit is
also located in the back of the airplane.
7.Smoking is prohibited during the whole
flight.
8.The seat belt must be fastened during all
the phases of the flight, unless authorized
by the pilot in command.
9.None of the controls, buttons or handles
located in the cockpit must be manipulated
by the passengers unless authorized by the
pilot in command.
10. The flight is going to have a duration of
approximately ----- hours and ----- minutes.
