Did you know that people without friends are more likely to die an early death?

Having
friends is a real guarantee that you are in a safe side. Throughout your life, you need several
types of friends. The first type is a loyal best friend. Sometimes a loyal best friend is the only
thing you need to stay sane. Everyone needs a non-judgmental friend who knows your deepest
and darkest secrets, but still loves you all the same. Secondly, a friendly neighbor. These days a
lot of people don’t know their own neighbors, it’s a shame because some neighbors can be the
nicest and most helpful people ever. You can ask them to take care of your house and family
when you are away. In your happy and sad moments, they will be the first one to help and share.
Thirdly, a friend from a different culture. Being in a cross-cultural friendship allows you to
explore customs, values, and traditions outside of your own culture. But be careful, don’t
befriend someone just because he is from other cultures; keep your mind and let that happens
spontaneously. Finally, a fearless adventure. We live in a big complex world. There are so many
places to see, people to meet and experiences to live. Don’t be like many who are stuck in their
routines and forget to acquire new ideas, cultures, philosophies and activities. Thus, you need
adventurous friend who will pull you out of your normally life. To end, take enough time and
decide which of them you need urgently. Maybe you need a mixture of them all.

Read a text about social networking . Then complete the tasks below :
Parents, in increasing numbers, are concerned about their teens’ use of social networking
activities, according to a new survey by a US digital safety group, (USDSG ) . The research
conducted for the non-profit organization, Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) found that
social media was the only online activity and technology for which more parents believed the
harms outweighed the benefits or were equal. Some 43% of parents thought the negative sides of
their child having a social media account outweighed the benefits, while 31% thought the risks
and benefits were about equal. Only 26% thought the benefits were worth the potential risks. Jen
Hanley, director of FOSI, said social networking sites can present risks to children, but parents
can help them make the right choices by following these five tips:
1. ........................................................................
Make sure the family computer is placed in a public area, like the kitchen or family room, so
children can’t hide what they’re doing. Smartphones and laptops can be harder to track, so limit
their time on them.
2. .......................................................................
Make it known that your child needs your permission to join social networking sites like
Facebook
or Twitter. Then make it clear that as a requirement they must hand over their login information
and password.
3. ...........................................................................
Have the talk. Make it clear to your children that what they post online is seen by many people—
including parents, relatives, friends, teachers, strangers, and people who have bad intentions. So
don’t post anything that's inappropriate or damaging to their (or your!) reputation.
4. ............................................................................
Privacy settings don’t guarantee that your child won’t post appropriate things or that they’re
entirely protected, but they can limit the damage if an unfortunate comment or photo is posted.
Learn how to enable privacy settings on social networking sites and make sure they’re
implemented on your child’s profile or account.
5. ............................................................................. New apps reward users for ‘checking-in’ or
posting their GPS location. Remind kids that no coupon or reward is worth the risk to their safety
and make sure they know to never offer personal information to anyone online.
