Personal Reflection/Team Collaboration
There are a lot of schools with many educational systems like the normal schools,
stem schools and so on
From all of these different educational systems I decided to apply to the stem
system
From my point of view stem educational system is the best between all these
educational systems not my own opinion but all the people in Egypt have such that
opinion for many reasons
1- The different system from the others such as in teaching in student’s minds
For example, students must depend on their selves in learning eating
traveling from their homes to the school alone without any fair from the
people
2-secondly STEM school is a boarding school so the students have to stay in
the school for may be a week a month or may be reach a semester so it
depend on the psychology of the students
3-for the teachers they are not faced to teach or explain all the ciucilm of the
stem school because students prepare such a presentations to teach their
friends in the class
4- the team work in stem school is the best thing from my opinion because
in stem school students are divided into many groups in the classed and they
must collaborate to explain the concept
5-the capstone project is also the best thing because it teaches the students
how can they do such the projects by themselves with a little explanation
from the cap teacher or the cap manager
Also, student will create the project by a recyclable material so they are very
beneficial to Egypt if their project builds in real
To conclude STEM school is an apprevation to SECINCE MATHS
TECHNOLOGY and engineering is the most wonderful educational system
in Egypt and if the time returned me, I will choose the stem school
educational system
Second question is about EDP
Ex. How do you start thinking in your solving method to the challenge*
Using the Engineering Design Process (EDP)
As we are students in stem school we have a capstone challenges that we should

collaborate as a team and solve it by a creative way
In this semester we have a capstone challenge about how to filtrate the air from the
harmful gases
There are a lot of methods to do to create and solve such that challenges
1-understanding the challenge well and read it and make a pro plan to follow it and
prepare for it well
2-there is something called EDP steps these steps are the steps which we will follow
to build our project
EDP steps is the appreviation of the sentence ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS this
sentence is the most important thing in STEM school it has many steps for example
1-identify the problem
2- Select the solution

3- Identify the solution
4- Design requirements
To make our project we first thought mainly by EDP steps so we first identified
the problem from the challenge such make the challenge explain what we
should do to solve this problem
To do such things we should research carefully and well to understand the

problem advantages and disadvantages the problem structure and the prior
solution of the problem
In my team we follow these methods to do and make our prototype
In the end EDP steps are very important to the team who want to get a high
marks in their prototype
And also following these steps will make the student more organized and will
prepare all what he needs carefully

Ex. how do you get benefit of physics in solving your challenge*

In stem school we have a capstone challenge that have a collaboration with all the
subjects in the school
Physics is one of the most wonderful subjects will be benefit for us in doing our
prototype
We learned in physics in lo1 the gravitational force and the gravity
The gravitational force is the force that keep two rotated things about others in a
constant energy
In the air system we will use the concept of the gravity to do our project HOW?
Well, we studied that the gravity of earth pulls all the objects toward the center of
the planet and this gravity varies from point to point in the surface depending on
the distance
g=Gm/R^2
g is the gravity
G is the graviton constant that equal to 6.67*10^-11
M is the mass of the earth
R is the radius of the earth
In the filtration system gravity will teach us that the heavy elements in the air will
be at the bottom on the surface and the lighter elements will be floated in the
atmosphere
So it will help us to collect the selected gas from the air if the gas is heavy it will be
near to the surface if not it will escape to the atmosphere
Also, by studying the gravitational force we can build a vertical filtration system and
put the air at the top f the system and then the gravity will pull this air to the center
downward through the filtration system such as the air purifier then the air will get
out from the system more cleaner and almost the harmful gas will be purified from
the air
To conclude physics is very important to the capstone projects by its laws its
theorems not to a selected grade no but all to the grades in STEM school

In stem school we have a capstone challenge that have a collaboration with all the
subjects in the school
Chemistry is very important to the capstone project in all ways

We learned from the first lo in chemistry the concept called
The types of matter
Matter is divided into three types the solution ,the colloids and the suspension
Air is one of the most common thing in the colloids
It is considered a colloids because it has a medium and a phase which mean it is not at
all we can see all the particles of the air by the eyes but we can see it with microscope
Mass percentage
Means how many mass of the element or the compound X in the total mass
Mass percentage=the mass of X /Total mass of the air *100%
The molarity
The concept of the molarity is very important because it makes us determine the
concentration of the element x in the air
Molarity=number of moles of the x/the total mass of the air
The concept of PPM parts per million we can determine how much number of parts of
the element x in the air
PPM= moles of the x/ mass of the air *10^6
To conclude chemistry is very important to apply to in the capstone projects
