Objectives and competences:
AIMS: To give students an understanding of the complexities of modern international business. Competences: Understand the variety complexity of risks in
international business. Recognize and evaluate different foreign entry modes in international business. Use of strategic tools for analysis of business
environment (PESTEL, Porter's diamond, C-analysis, value chain analysis) and application of strategic tools in decision making (SWOT, Porter’s five forces,
value chain analysis). Communication skills in international business. Evaluate internationalization strategy and develop decision making.

In complex IB environment students need to become good at asking questions, identifying risks and finding problems. No one can make them do these
things, so building the disposition to recognize and tolerate uncertainty and keep on exploring and building critical connections is really important. Students
also need to set aside familiar habits such as expecting that there should be a right answer to every question asked.

Contents of the course:


The course addresses characteristics, risks and analysis of international business environment and internationalization strategies. International business
environment; sources and tools of analysis, characteristics of emerging market business environment. Business functions and how they change when
enterprise operate in international markets (international marketing, IHRM, international finance). Internationalization strategy, market analysis and entry
modes. Development and growth of multinational enterprises.

Intended learning outcomes:


Student can: Describe and recognize foreign entry modes, use strategic tools for analysis of business environment (PESTEL, Porter's diamond, C- analysis,
value chain analysis) and present risks, apply strategic tools for decision making (SWOT, Porter’s five forces, value chain analysis), make and present
internationalization strategy.

Learning and teaching methods:


Lectures, seminars, e-learning, consultations, individual or group work with professors, project work, case studies (written case studies, video case studies,
life case studies), role playing, simulations, public speaking, (company visit) – combination depend on the number of participants.

Assessment:
Final grade in 2022/2023 consists of:
a) Individual case studies (3 case studies): up to 30% of the final course grade (submission closes 15 minutes before the lectures start on the day when
the case study is due)
b) Team projects (5-6 members): up to 50% of the final course grade (30% for written part, 20% for presentation)
c) Active participation: up to 20% of the final course grade
