Training Introduction
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2023 re: Implementing Guidelines on the School
Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2023-2024 stipulating the conduct Midyear
Break Activities namely the Midyear Performance Review and Evaluation and the
School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) of Teachers for SY 2023-2024 scheduled on
January 24-26 and January 29-30, 2024. This is to ensure the continuity of learning and
professional development of every teaching personnel to supports learners’ needs.
Thus, Bato National High School conducted the Three-Day INSET on HIGHER-ORDER
THINKING SKILLS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PACKAGES (HOTS-PLP) for
ENGLISH, SCIENCE, and MATHEMATICS TEACHERS.
In-Service Training (INSET) enable teachers to acquire skills with
relevant pedagogical-content knowledge appropriate to the present educational
landscape that will lead to improve learning among the students. Specifically, to
enable teachers to continuously improve their knowledge and practices through
the development of HOTS questions and assessments, and to endeavor for
professional development for the effective delivery of quality education.
Successful teaching is a result of the systematic use of appropriate
strategies for delivering and assessing the learning objectives targeted for each
lesson (UNESCO GMR 2014). Hence, teachers should acquire skills relevant to
teaching-learning process that will help students develop higher-thinking order skills
which eventually improve students’ learning outcomes; Also, to enable teachers to
support each other to continuously improve their pedagogical knowledge, practice,
skills; and to foster a professional collaborative spirit among school heads and teachers.
