The best way to teach children to cooperate is through team sports at school.

To
what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, the advent of cutting – edge technology has led to the higher required
skills to handle jobs. Therefore, training cooperate skill for young generation is
necessary. It is said that the best way to educate the skill is multiplayers sport.
However, I personally disagree with it, because there are more effective ways to
teach student solidarity, while there are some inherent drawbacks of the
mentioned one.
On one hand, despite giving undeniable pros, sports are not perfectly suitable for
teamwork teaching. Apparently, teachers can show the strength of teamwork
through sport, but this way can backfire, since each team’s ability is different. For
example, if the team plays along the cooperated tactic, but if the opponent is
more skillful, they are more likely to win. This failure may lead to the impression
that cooperation is nothing when compared to true potential. Another point is
even if sports can help build teamwork skills, they are not for everyone. There are
children who do not like sports and children who cannot play sports due to the
inherent physical requirement of sports. In that case, it is not equal for every
student, because they cannot attend the activities. Moreover, the competitive
atmosphere in sports can lead to stress and fearful mental state in students. They
may think that if they do not play sports with others, they cannot be scolded
when they make some mistake.
On the other hand, there are many suitable alternatives for sports at teaching
cooperative skill. Teachers can organize some indoor activities, such as quiz
games to help children get chances to work with teammates naturally because of
desire to win. For example, an educator can hold a challenge to tell fruits as many
as possible. As a result, children must play as a team to achieve success, since the
more people attend, the more fruits named. Besides, schools can make students
work on some suitable projects which allow them to work as teams and give the
prize to the most cooperative teams. Finally, children can attend some more
tranquil activities than sports such as dancing, which also require the team
agreement in actions to give out smooth performance. These even allow weak
students to attend at some levels.
In conclusion, although sports may contribute to teamwork skills educating, it is
not the most suitable choice due to its drawbacks. Therefore, in terms of teaching
cooperation to children, educational systems should use multitude activities
beside doing sports.
