Primary Purpose of the Job


Operates and adjusts production facilities as directed by General Operator/Senior
Operator within designated limits to ensure maximum recovery/injection on assigned
shift. Will work on standby duty on a rotational basis, when assigned to Wellhead
operations.

The Field Operator I is expected to work as directed in any of the plant areas covered
by the Oil Operations Department. These areas are:- Khatiyah Main, North and South
Degassing stations, Fahahil North, Fahahil Main, Fahahil South and Jaleha Degassing
stations, Fahahil Stripping Plant, Fahahil North Gas Lift Compressor Station, Gas lift
manifolds, Powered Water lnjection stations, Wellheads and related Pipelines in
Dukhan field.

The Field Operator I may be required to work on shifts depending on the area to which
he is assigned.

Principal Accountabilities
1. Conducts production tests. lncludes removing/changing orifice plates at test
separator, switching over valves on manifold, adjusting levels, pressures, and
chokes.
2. Commission's meters. lncludes opening/shutting the inlet valve and installing
correct size orifice plates.

3. Logging readings of temperatures, pressures and flows at the required operation.


Performs the role of Area Authority in PTW system, carries out gas tests,
mechanical isolations, as required and does permit observations to issue stop
cards.
4. Carries out routine/non routine changeover of pumps, operates the manifold valves
for diversion of wells, and prepares equipment's for maintenance activities under
the guidance of General/Senior Operator.
5. Checks, monitors and adjusts equipment at dehydration stations. lncludes topping
up levels in the tri ethylene glycol accumulator, adjusting pumping rate to maintain
level in contactors, checking heaters for hot spots and abnormal sounds,
monitoring PH of glycol and adding chemicals if required. Carries out various
checks and tests on the molecular sieve, glycol physical properties by sending
sample for lab analysis and silica gel equipment, checking pressures and knock
out levels, checking temperature of salt bath heaters, checking hot spots, taking
readings of temperature, pressures and flows.

6. Monitors the Turbine & Compressor field parameters and passes on the readings
to the Panel operator. Checks the functionality of jet pulse operations of air intake
filters and reports any abnormalities to the General/Senior Operator. Operates the
InleUOutlet valves for the Compressor start-upi Shutdown as required.

7. Reports quantities of oil, water and gas produced. Takes routine/non routine
samples as required. Carries out pigging operations like Pig Launchlng/Receiving
in coordination with the contractor and under the guidance of General/Senior
Operator.

8. Operates Baker control panel wells. lncludes opening the sub surface and surface
safety valves and flowing the well, ensuring that the required pressures are
maintained.

9. Maintain and controls inventory of chemicals to ensure availability of supply.

Decision Making Authority


Reports to the General Operator or Senior Operator. Receives work direction from
General Operator or Senior Operator. Carries out duties in accordance with standard
operating procedures. Work progress is subject to automatic check.

Must be aware of QatarEnery Safety Regulations. Responsible for his own safety and
the safety of his work associates. Act as an assigned member on a safety team, with
responsibility to take corrective action in accordance with Safety rules and regulations.

tools. Considerable exposure to dirt, heat, grease, oil, noise and vibration plus prevailing
climatic conditions.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience


. Completion of Secondary (12 years) education followed by 3 years formal technical
training in process plant operations plus relevant short courses in safety, plant
operations or equivalent. For nationals TAFE or equivalent.
. Good oral and reading and fair in written English.
. Minimum 4 years experience in operating process plant in the oil or petrochemical
industry.
