1 TROUBLESHOOTING
This section provides an illustration of all the checks to perform in order to get a better idea of
what has caused the machine to malfunction.
Block diagrams are provided to facilitate the troubleshooting process. They make it easier to
understand the sequence of steps to be performed according to the machine fault in question.
- An initial rectangle describes the operating conditions in which you must place the machine
in order to perform the checks.
- Subsequent rectangles will describe which actions must be taken; these do not require
selections.
- Diamonds ask you to make checks and report their outcome; depending on the outcome you
will have to make a decision and then follow the path to arrive at a diagnosis of the fault.
- White numbers on black backgrounds identify the various steps taken; they are also used to
refer to checks illustrated in other sections of the manual (e.g. “See check 2 in Sect. 3.5.4”;
in this case you must go to section 3.5.4. of the manual and look for the check marked .

This test allows you to check whether the gearmotor runs properly in both directions.
Proceed as follows:
• set the potentiometer regulating the quantity of coffee on minimum;
• press the steam button;
the gearmotor will start and the gears will continue to turn until the micro enabling the coffee
dispensing unit is activated; this will be signalled by the lighting up of the coffee LED on the
front of the control panel.
Once the micro has been activated, the gearmotor will stop.
You must subsequently check the rotation of the gearmotor in the opposite direction.
Proceed as follows:
• set the potentiometer regulating the quantity of coffee in the middle position;
• again press the steam button;
the gearmotor will start running in the opposite direction and the gears will continue to turn
until the end-cycle micro is activated; this will be signalled by the lighting up of the coffee LED
on the front of the control panel.
Once the micro has been activated, the gearmotor will stop.
To check the efficiency of the water/steam micro you need only activate the switch by opening
the hot water/steam tap; if it is working regularly, the steam LED on the control panel will light
up.
