Who was Isis (𓁐𓁐𓁐𓁐 )?
-Isis is a goddess in Egyptian mythology.

-Her parents Geb and Nut.

-The goddess of the moon.As the goddess of life and


magic.

-Isis protected women and children,and healed the sick.

-Isis was the sister and wife of Osiris. They had a son
named Horus.

-Her symbols were the ankh, her wings,and her throne


headdress.

Osiris)
-Osiris is depicted on a lapis lazuli pillar in the
centre.
-Flanked by Horus on the left and Isis on the
right
-Lapis lazuli:-It is dark blue in color,
semi-transparent and opaque.
-Especially in ancient Egypt, it was given great
importance by the pharaohs and it was believed that
they would be protected from evil after the
offerings.
-the story concerns the murderer,his brother
Seth,usurps his throne.

-Osiris and Isis had a brother named Seth. Seth
was a god of violence and disorder.-seth tricked
Osiris into climbing into a wooden box .

-when Osiris climbed in, Seth slammed the lid shut


-Seth threw the box into the Nile river ,sending
Osiris to his death

-Isis mourned her husband’s death deeply.

-She recovered Osiris’ body and buried him.


Isis then used her great magic to give new life to
Osiris .

-From then on he was considered the ruler of the land


of the dead and underworld 5
Isis with Horus The Child
-This statue symbolizes Isis' sacrifice and power in
protecting and growing Horus.

-Shows that Isis is a strong mother figure and the


concept of motherhood is sacred in Egyptian
mythology.

-Horus is the god of the sky in Egyptian mythology


.Depicted as a child or a hawk-headed figure.

-The fact that Isis holds Horus in her arms shows his important
contribution to the growth process.

-The disc and horns on Isis' head are;

Sun disk; fertility and renewal of life

Horns indicate that she is a goddess.

-Isis Since she is highly respected and depicted as motherhood, healing,


magic and protection, her statues are generally depicted sitting.
