Solar Plant™ - Next-Generation Modular CSP

A Distinctively New Approach to Solar Power Generation

Engineered for low risk and long operating life, each modular Solar Plant™ provides 400kWe of electricity
and 600kWth of heat, 24/7/365, while occupying only five acres of land. Yet, Solar Plants are scalable to
meet any demand.

One Plant or Many

Solar Plants are standardized, identical modules that can be combined to achieve any required capacity.
Multiple modules ensure continuous delivery when one or more are offline, providing added flexibility,
reliability, and resilience to any power project.

Unmatched Benefits
Solar Plants offer outstanding reliability and resilience with no requirement for emergency backup. They
provide battery-like response to voltage and demand fluctuations, mitigating intermittency from other
renewables. Short project cycles, low O&M, and competitive margins mean attractive returns for investors.

Solar Plant™ - Next-Generation Modular CSP

How It Works
During the day, a field of heliostats (solar
mirrors) tracks the sun and focuses ~1500
suns of energy onto the Solar Collector,
where air is heated at atmospheric
pressure to 970 °C / 1800 °F. The collector
is mounted on a common truss tower,
~125 feet (35m) tall, which holds the
ducting that carries the air to and from
the collector.

At the base of the tower, some of the super-heated air goes to two 247Solar Heat2Power™ Turbines. There,
it passes through a proprietary ultra-high temperature heat exchanger in each turbine, which transfers
the heat to compressed air from the turbine. Uniquely, these turbines use this super-heated compressed
air, rather than steam, to spin the generators that produce electricity.

The rest of the hot air from the Solar Collector passes through the Thermal Energy Storage system, where
the heat is stored in cargo-size containers filled with inexpensive sand or iron slag for later use.

HeatStorE™ Long-Duration Thermal Battery

Harness Excess Electricity from Renewables or the Grid

for Combined Heat and Power (CHP)

Intermittent PV and wind, and unreliable grid power (mostly from

fossil fuels) make long-duration energy storage (LDES) essential for
reducing energy costs and carbon footprint. Solar’s HeatStorE™
thermal battery is an industry-tailored energy management
system that provides the ultimate solution for operational
flexibility, cost savings, and reduced carbon emissions.

HeatStorE converts solar, wind, or grid electricity to heat, stores it,

and then uses the stored heat to firmly deliver electricity and/or
industrial process heat around the clock.

Acting as a battery As a backup system

HeatStorE converts stored heat to both heat HeatStorE produces firmly dispatchable electricity
and power as needed for 9 hours or more and/or industrial process heat even when fully
on a single charge. While generating power, discharged by burning any locally available fuel,
HeatStorE also provides industrial process including diesel and hydrogen. This ensures 24/7
heat up to 250 °C. When not producing power, operation when renewables aren’t available or
HeatStorE can provide heat to nearly 1000 °C. during grid outages.

Benefits Include:
Fully dispatchable, 24/7 standby heat and Reduced demand charges and other
power on demand energy costs

Increased energy system reliability & Reduced carbon footprint

Heat2Power™ Turbine -
Convert wasted heat to
electricity

The first-ever commercial turbine able to

produce power from ambient-pressure hot
air without combustion or emissions.

Now, industrial facilities that produce exhaust above 850 °C (1550 °F) can convert this
otherwise-wasted resource into electricity to help power operations or to sell as an
additional revenue stream.

Made by Capstone [NASDAQ: CGRN], it’s the Remote monitoring and diagnostics
most reliable turbine in its class, modified to Proven technology with tens of millions of
Solar specifications operating hours
Standardized module of 200 kWe Can burn fuel, including diesel and hydrogen, if
Shipped fully tested, operation-ready needed, for 24/7 dispatchability

How It Works
High-temperature industrial exhaust gas (min. 850°C) is supplied to the turbine at ambient pressure, where
it passes through a proprietary high-temperature heat exchanger. This transfers the heat to the turbine’s
compressed air, which then enters the turbine’s expander at the required pressure and temperature,
driving the turbine. No fuel is used, and no emissions are produced. An optional duct combustor can burn
fuel if needed.

The Solar Difference
Solar technologies overcome the limitations of conventional renewables to provide
continuous clean power and heat regardless of weather or time of day. With technology
originated at MIT, each of our industrial and utility-scale solutions is engineered for low risk
and a long operating life and offers unique advantages.

Turnkey Systems Modular/Scalable

Our products are are pre-engineered modules Our modular designs are small enough for
that use proven technologies for higher villages and light industrial plants, yet they can be
reliability, lower technical risk, and easier combined in any quantity to grow with demand

Factory-Built Components Local content

We use standardized, mass-produced components Many components of our systems can be

Reliable/Low Maintenance
Simple components, proven technologies, and few moving parts mean high reliability and low maintenance.
No on-site operators are required, and local talent can easily operate and maintain our systems.

Extensive Applications

For PV and Wind Farms

People need power all the time, but PV and wind farms deliver power only when the sun shines or the wind
blows. Usually, peak demand is in the evening or early morning when PV is not operating. Conventional
batteries can help somewhat, but they’re expensive and don’t last through the night or during bad weather.
247Solar technologies convert electricity from PV or wind to heat and store it for 9 hours or more. They
operate almost exactly like conventional electrochemical batteries but also provide guaranteed power even
when fully discharged by burning almost any locally available fuel, including diesel and hydrogen.

For Industry
Many industries use both heat and power. In fact, 2/3 of industrial energy consumption around the world is
used to produce heat. This is done mostly by burning fossil fuels and is extremely difficult to decarbonize.
Many also pay expensive demand charges for using electricity during peak times and increasingly experience
extended down times during natural emergencies. 247Solar solutions deliver both clean and reliable
electricity and industrial-grade heat to provide peace of mind, operational flexibility, and lower energy costs
to industrial customers.

For Economic Development

Solar technologies are ideal for emerging economies that need clean baseload power and can no longer get
funding for fossil fuel plants. They can be located as standalone power plants near villages or combined with
PV and wind into hybrid mini-grids. Modular design means capacity can be increased as needed to meet
growing demand. At the site of each Plant, up to 1.6 million BTU per hour of exhaust heat can be harnessed
for water purification, crop refrigeration using absorption chilling, crop drying, food processing, or other
industrial applications. Many components can be manufactured in local markets. Up to 50% of the cost of
the system can be directed to local economies for job creation, and the simplicity of the system allows for
operation and maintenance by local personnel.
