BOTHER
WRITING
ESSAYS?
The ability to articulate or to speak fluently and coherently gives you the skill to
convince, win an argument, justify and even deceive. The words that you choose,
the structure of your sentences, the sequence in which your thoughts are presented
and the way in which you make it understandable to your audience comes down to
your ability to think in those few milliseconds before you speak. If you cannot think
with precision and force your brain to produce words that encapsulate your
thoughts in a coherent way then you will never be able to articulate. Your own
speech will become an impediment to your maximum potentially achievable
success in every endeavor of life.
To be articulate you need a firm understanding of what you are speaking and need
to know way more about the topic than what you are going to say. Writing is the
pathway for you. It is one of the forms of thinking. Writing shows you your words
and the way you are presenting your thoughts to others. While writing all of your
words get frozen, this gives you an opportunity to review your own thoughts
making you aware of your mistakes while speaking. In writing, you can alter your
words again and again until it is perfectly coherent. To top it all off in order to
write properly you need to know a lot more than what you are going to write. This
increases the amount of knowledge that you have and your understanding of the
subject.
Essay writing is the best form of writing for this purpose. It is the one which
resembles real life situation of conversation to other people. As in an Essay you
are trying to explain things in a coherent manner. If you write an Essay properly
you will have to think words, sentences and structure your thoughts sequentially.
By that you will increase your ability to think precisely and orderly, understand
the topic better and become better at explaining it. This improves your speaking
and writing skills as a human. So, essay writing will make you able to think faster
and deeper with clarity.
Essay is derived from the French word essayer meaning “an attempt” or “to try”.
Essay in English grammar is normally defined by a short writing about a topic.
Though, there is no exact definition of an Essay. It can in my suggestion be defined
by “an attempt by one to express one’s thoughts, opinions and knowledge about a
topic”. In summary, Essays are a way to write about anything to demonstrate and
express your knowledge and opinions, in a way which is original and unique to
you, about that subject.
The most appropriate topic for an Essay is a topic that matters to you as an
individual. Concentrate your mind on topics that you like, things that bother you at
night, things which are unclear in your mind, questions that you are unable to
answer, arguments that you are unable to win and stuff like that. This enables you
to know more about the subject and compels you spiritually to write as it matters
to you and from an objective point of view makes your life better as you are
writing about something important.
After choosing a suitable topic, make an outline or you can say subtopics for your
paragraphs. Then, write without caring about all the vocabulary and grammar
mistakes. Make sure that each subtopic consists of one idea or thought. After that
you have written an essay, separate each sentence within each paragraph from
one another. First, correct all the vocabulary and grammar mistakes. Then,
ponder over each sentence. The choice of words, the way it is structured, its
locality within the paragraph and even the need for this sentence. After correcting
each and everything from words to the arrangement of sentences, you have a
proper paragraph. Now, rearrange your paragraphs until the whole idea of the
essay is coherent at highest level possible. By following these simple steps, you
have written an Essay which is proper at micro and macro level. This process
reveals your own presentation of ideas as a whole and words that you used for it
to you which helps in clarifying your thoughts which makes you articulate.
Now that you know why to write an Essay, on what topic to write an Essay and
how to write it, let us see a normal humans’ life who doesn’t write. Mediocre
humans like the ones we live between are unable to contemplate words in their
heads while speaking. When we get emotional or rejected or pushed around for fun
or when we are trying to convince people for something or trying to disprove a
common myth and in many similar situations, we just for a moment run out of
words. We do understand the idea and it all makes perfect sense in our head but at
the same time we terribly fail to convey the message to others. This is all due to
our lack of clarity in our own minds that how should we structure our point with
words, phares and sentences. What to say first and how to make sense of it in the
boarder sense of conversation. Also, our lack of understanding of the subject and
the continuous pressure given by the person in front of us makes us go silent
though we may very well be right. All of this keeps us mediocre. Just imagine, if
you were able to win every argument, explain and understand everything, convince
people to support your ideas and fulfill your needs, justify your actions and needs,
sell your abilities and make people trust you, what kind of a life you would live?
To summon up all of this I would like to make a clear statement that being
articulate is the deadliest skill. Since, this gives you a massive advantage when it
comes to speaking in a conversation. Since most people are unable to convey their
messages properly, your skill of speaking fluently, precisely, comprehensively and
coherently will give you untold power. To write (essays) so that you can achieve
this power is the best use of free time. And if you don’t have free time then making
30- or 60-minutes out of your day to write will be an endeavor worth the difficulty.
