ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
Animal husbandry is the practice of raising and caring for animals to produce
quality animal products, such as meat, eggs, and milk.Animal Husbandry is the
agricultural practice of breeding, rearing, and managing domesticated animals to
maximize their utility for human needs. It includes scientific methods for
improving animal traits, providing proper nutrition, ensuring healthcare, and
maintaining hygienic shelters. Animals such as cows, goats, sheep, poultry, and
bees are reared for products like milk, meat, eggs, wool, and honey or for labor in
farming. This practice plays a crucial role in enhancing food production, rural
livelihoods, and economic sustainability.
DAIRY FARMING
Dairy Farming is the practice of rearing dairy animals, such as cows, buffaloes,
and goats, for the production of milk and milk-based products. It involves proper
animal care, including nutrition, healthcare, and shelter, to ensure high milk yield
and quality. Key aspects include selecting high-yielding breeds, maintaining
hygienic milking practices, and managing storage and distribution of milk. Dairy
farming is a significant source of income for farmers and contributes to food
security by providing essential dairy products like milk, cheese, butter, and yogurt.
APRICULTURE
Apiculture, also known as beekeeping, is the practice of raising and
maintaining bee colonies in hives. The term "apiculturist" refers to
someone who keeps bees, and is also known as an apiarist .its, or
beekeeping, is the practice of rearing and managing honeybees for
the production of honey, beeswax, and other bee-related products.
It involves maintaining artificial hives, providing suitable habitats,
and ensuring the health and safety of bee colonies. Beekeepers
also support pollination, which is essential for crop production.
Apiculture is an eco-friendly and economically beneficial activity,
contributing to agriculture and providing natural products for
consumption and industry.
SERICULTURE
Pisciculture, also known as fish farming, refers to the practice of breeding and raising fish in
controlled environments such as ponds, tanks, or artificial lakes for commercial purposes. It is a
critical component of aquaculture, designed to supply fish and seafood to meet growing global
conditions, market demand, and profitability. Commonly farmed species include carp,
pH, oxygen levels, and cleanliness to promote healthy fish growth. This requires regular
Feeding and Nutrition: Providing balanced diets for the fish to ensure proper growth and
development. This includes high-quality commercial fish feeds that contain essential
Disease Control: Preventing and treating diseases that could harm the fish, which involves
stress factors.
Harvesting and Marketing: Once the fish reach the desired size, they are harvested and
processed for sale. Fish from pisciculture farms are sold fresh, frozen, or in processed
POULTRY FARMING
Poultry Farming is the practice of breeding and raising domesticated birds such as chickens,
ducks, turkeys, and geese for the production of meat and eggs. It plays a significant role in
agriculture and food production due to the high demand for poultry products.
Feeding: Providing a balanced diet tailored to the nutritional needs of poultry to ensure
ventilation, and space, to minimize disease and stress and maximize productivity.
Egg and Meat Production: After proper care and management, poultry is
harvested for eggs and meat, which are key food sources globally.
Poultry farming is highly productive, cost-effective, and provides a significant source of animal
