The 8100 - 9100 alternator is a ringless, brushless, rotating inductor machine with “Pitch 2/3” winding;
6 wires, with class H insulation and excitation system available in the “AREP+PMI” version or in the “PMG” version (see
diagrams and news of the R449 regulator ref 3993).

3.1.3 - Location
The location where the alternator is to be installed must be
such that the ambient temperature cannot exceed 40°C for
standard power (for temperatures > 40°C, apply a derating
coefficient). Fresh air, free of moisture and dust, must freely
reach the air inlet grilles, located on the side opposite the
coupling. It is mandatory to prevent the recycling of hot air
leaving the machine or the thermal engine, as well as
exhaust gases.

3.2 - Checks before first start-up


3.2.1 - Electrical checks

It is strictly forbidden to start up a new or unused

3.4 - Start-up

Starting and using the machine is not possible if the installation does not comply with the rules and regulations set out
in this manual.
The machine is tested and adjusted in the factory. When using the unit for the first time without load, it is necessary to check that

4.2.3).
When the load is applied, the machine should return to its nominal speed and voltage; however, if the operation is irregular, the
machine can be adjusted (follow the adjustment procedure § 3.5). If the operation is still faulty, then the fault must be determined
(see § 4.4).

4.5.2 - Checking the diode bridge

voltages on L1 - L2 - L3, controlling the voltages and

If the output voltages are at their nominal values and


balanced at < 1% for the given excitation value, the machine
is fine and the fault comes from the regulation part (regulator
– wiring – detection – auxiliary winding).

4.5.3 - Verification of the windings and


rotating diodes by separate excitation

During this procedure, it is important to check that the alternator is disconnected from any external load and examine
the terminal box to ensure that the connections are tight.

4.6.3 - Access to diodes

- Disconnect the diodes and check the diodes with an
ohmmeter or lamp (see § 4.5.2.)

4.6.7 - Disassembly of the assembly
