Lesson Plan (week 6- day 3)
Grade 8
Content Standard:
• The learner is able to understand key concepts of geometry and triangle congruent
Performance Standards:
I. Lesson Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
• identify conditions for triangle congruence;
• use triangle congruence postulates and theorems to prove that two triangles are
congruent; and
• recognize real-life applications of congruent triangles.
III. Procedure
Preliminaries
1. Setting of Students
2. Opening Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Review
The teacher will ask the students about what they have learned in previous
lesson about solving corresponding parts of congruent triangle. To attest
students’ understanding about the last lesson.
5. Motivation:
Mechanics: The teacher will present a game titled: “Find my twin
triangle”, the Students will identify pairs of congruent triangles by
applying the Right Triangle Congruence Theorems (HL, LL, or LA).
1. Each slide will show two triangle, decide if they are congruent or
twins using Hyl, HyA, LL, and LA.
2. The student who guessed correctly will earn a point/reward.
IV. Lesson Proper:
Example 1:
The two legs of ∆𝐵𝐴𝐺 are congruent respectively to the two
≅ ∆𝐶𝑂𝑃
legs of ∆𝐶𝑂𝑃. The two triangles are right. Prove that ∆𝐵𝐴𝐺
Since the two triangles, ∆𝐴𝐵𝐺 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ∆𝑂𝐶𝑃 are right, hence 𝐵 ≅ 𝐶. Based on
the given congruent parts, ∆𝐵𝐴𝐺 ≅ ∆𝐶𝑂𝑃 by SAS congruence postulate.
show that 𝐴𝐺≅ 𝑂𝑃 through the use of Pythagorean Theorem. So, ∆𝐵𝐴𝐺 ≅
The congruence of the corresponding legs of the two triangles will lead us to
Step 3. Write down the statements and the reasons in a two-column proof.
Make sure the last statement contains what should be proved.
