SPORTS CONTRACT

This Agreement is made and entered into by and between House Legatum and a respective
Sports participant (Hereinafter referred to as “The Player”). For the purposes of this
document, House Legatum will be represented by the Sporting Director (Hereinafter referred
to as “RC Sports”). This agreement shall come into effect on the date of in which it is signed
by:

(Hereinafter referred to as “The Player”)

and

(Hereinafter referred to as "RC Sports”)

1. Sporting Codes.

2. Player Obligations.
2.1 General obligations:
 Maintaining and adhering to the Values of House Legatum In the course of sporting service.
 Abiding by the Gentlemen’s Code of Conduct within the House and on the field respectively.
 Attending all Team Training Sessions and Matches (To the exception of arising commitments
either academic, personal and emergencies. In the case of a player not being available for a
match or training session, 24-hour Notice must be given to the exception of emergencies.
Proof must be submitted to RC Sports or the team manager for filing.)
 House Meeting attendance by the Appointed team managers.
2.2 Academic Related-Obligations:
 Going to CTL for academic advising and drafting of a schedule for the purposes of
ensuring a healthy and productive balance between extra-curricular activities and
Academics. This must be done in the beginning of the Academic year.
 Striving toward working in accordance with the drafted schedule as a means of
avoiding academic and sporting decline.
2.3. Mental Health Obligations:
 In the instance where a player is struggling to maintain the balance and feeling
academically overwhelmed, the said player must immediately contact RC Sports,
Health and Wellness for assistance and referral to SCD if necessary.
 In the case of SCD referral, the player is obligated to go to SCD for assistance.

Note: Do not let the load get too much in order for you to speak. One’s Mental
Health is of utmost importance.

3.Term of obligation.
The players’ obligation in relation to the above provisions shall be in effect throughout the
2024/2025 RC term, from the date signed. This to the exception of mutual agreement
between the player and RC Sports to alter the duration of the contract or its provisions and
termination thereof owing to misconduct or mutual agreement.

4. Breach or Withdrawal.
Failure to abide by this contract or withdrawal from this contract without a valid reason will
constitute a fine of R30 which can be added to a players student account in the instance of
failure to pay fine. The said fine will find application in the instance where a player has been
taken to the disciplinary committee on two separate cases of misconduct.

5. Sports Jersey Clause.


Players are strictly forbidden from taking sports jerseys without the permission of RC Sports.
Sports jerseys are to be treated with utmost respect as they serve as a symbol of House
Legatum. Due to this, players are strictly forbidden from wearing respective sports jerseys
outside of their intended purpose. Furthermore, players are strictly forbidden from borrowing
given sports jerseys to anyone outside of the team unless communicated and approved by RC
Sports in writing. Sanctions to take note of in the instance of breach:
1. Drinking and being seen at on campus and off campus Alcohol consumption spaces wearing
sports jerseys will result in the said player being referred to the Disciplinary Committee
where a suspension of four games may be imposed to the discretion of RC Sports.
2. Continuation of such behaviour may constitute removal from the designated sporting code.
3. In the instance where a sports jersey is used for anything outside of its intended purpose a
suspension of two games will be applicable. This will be to the exclusion of written consent by
RC Sports.
4. Borrowing a sports jersey to anyone outside of the team without written consent by RC Sports
will result in a fine of R30 with a consequence of a two-game suspension should the player
fail to pay the fine.

6. Variation
No variation, interpretation or waiver of any of the provisions of this agreement shall be effective unless
reduced in writing and signed by both the said player and RC sports.
