Speaking tasks for Assessment- CELEX Speaking Program

INSTRUCTION FORM- English 3

a. (MIDTERM)
English level: III
Task 1: Academic presentation about local issues
CEFR level: B1+
Time: 3 minutes
Materials:
 Topics will be given 1 week before the mid-term oral exam. The topics will
be related to the themes presented in their class textbook and B1+
content.
 PPT, or other resources the presenters might consider necessary
such as realia, short videos, etc.

 Rubric

Description: Students (individual) will give a 3-minute problem-solving


presentation on a topic given by the teacher. The audience will be tasked with
asking one question if necessary.

Criteria:

1. Pronunciation: the students will have Very few mispronounced words for B1
level.
2. Fluency: Speaks clearly and without hesitation for B1 level.
3. Grammar and vocabulary: students use a range of grammar and vocabulary for
a B1 level student.
4. Delivery: students appear very comfortable, confident, and engaging with the
audience. They maintain eye contact with the audience with appropriate body
language. They wear attire for presentations. Their PPT is properly designed
without mistakes and according to the model. They respect the time limit.
5. Structure: All elements were presented by students. All elements were
appropriately handled.
6. Content: Students use content and facts relevant to the topic. The content
demonstrates that the student researched the topic for the presentation.

 Lack of job for future polytechnic professionals.
 What ESPOL students say about the use of their technological devices in class?
 What young adults say about the use of emojis to express emotions?
 Would young adults prefer part-time jobs if they could choose?
 Is Guayaquil a friendly city for physically handicapped people?
 Do your classmates prefer to communicate using WhatsApp?
 Would you take a part-time job if you had the chance?
 What are the duties and rights of a young adult?
 If you could choose an unusual job, what job would you choose? Explain why.
 Which rules would you like to change to control the traffic in the city?
