1. TITLE :

METHOD STATEMENT FOR STRUCTURE STEEL SPACE FRAME WORKS AT

65TH AVENUE PROJECT.

2. SCOPE:
THIS PROCEDURE DESCRIBES THE METHODOLOGY FOR ERECTION OF
STEEL STRUCTURES SPACE FRAME WORKS.

3. REFERENCE STANDARDS / SPECIFICATIONS

REFERENCE DRAWINGS:
 AS PER PROVIDED BY MANGLAM MULTIPLEX PVT LTD FOR 65TH
AVENUE PROJECT.
 Material will be as per provided Drawing,
 Fabrication shall be as per provided Drawing
 Welding and work job shall be as per relative standards IS 816 and
IS 823.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES

Erection Engineer
 Role to execute the job as per standards, specification and method
as per drawing.
 Ensuring all necessary safety measures to all personnel & Equipments
involved with it
Quality control Engineer
 Ensuring that materials of the approved types are incorporated in the
works.
 Inspection of work which meets with specification and standards
5. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
 Welding machine (arc welding)
 Gas cutting set (LPG/Oxy) with all safety gadgets
 Welding electrode ( IS E6013, 3.15 & 4 mm thick )
 Grinding machine
 Rope Pulley
 Rope (1’’ size)
 PP rope (As required)
 Hand tools
 D-Shackle And Sling 10 Ton cpct
 Nylon Lifting Belt 6 Ton cpct
 Mobile crane 50 ton cpct

6. PROCEDURE
The procedure to be carried out for erection of space frame, the statement
of procedure involved in erection of steel structures is as follows:
A) UNLOADING,
Materials were shipped to job site separately. They are unloaded by
crane and worker manually on ground level.. The average load of
trucks carried materials is about 25 ton, for unloading of material
require 5 ton capacity hydra. Therefore, the temporary road in the
job site must be prepared properly for crane and trucks working.

B) MATERIAL ARRANGEMENT,
To avoid materials being moved so much on jobsite that might cause
unexpected damages of paint, shapes, when material delved to job
site, they must be unloaded and arranged closed to the designed
erection point. Up to The materials shall be stacked in locations
according to the building/areas, should be near to the lifting position
adjacent to the area to be erected. This is to facilitate the sorting and
delivery during the erection.
C) PROTECTION & STORAGE MATERIALS AT SITE
With purpose of preventing and protecting material damages during
storage out of environment factors such as storm water, dust, etc
which cause rusty, stain, etc.
Including below tasks:
1- Choose firmed and dry area for storage.

2- The material shall be stored above ground level with timber

packing. Leave 01 end open for erection machine throughout erection
period.

3- The materials or component or member shall be stored separately,

above ground on timber dun age. They shall not be stacked directly
on top of each other but must be separated by 50mm thick timber,
and shall not stack in contact with other steel member but must be
separated by a minimum 250mm gap.

4- Particular care shall be taken to stiffen free ends at 200mm

distance from ends, prevent permanent distortion.

5- The materials should be placed in minimum 5% slope to avoid

water pond.

6- The materials shall be kept free from dirt, grease, and other
foreign materials and shall be protected from road splash.
7- Never step on the materials.

8- All bolts, nuts, washers, screws, small plates and articles generally
shall be suitably packed and identified.

ERECTION

COLUMN ERECTION:
A) Preparation

1- Column C1,C2,C3,C4,C5,C6,C7,C8,C9,10,C11 materials were

arranged closed to design position.

2- Columns materials need to be cleaned, paint touching up and

assembled before erection.

3- Attach driven rope to column

4- Check level and position of insert plate with design.

5- Check at least 03 temporary anchor points to ensure safe anchor

points for column after erection.
These points should be adjacent casted concrete structures (stump,
ground beam) where temporary Cable can be tied to. In case of no
anchor point available, steel members that are not yet in use can
be temporary applied for temporary anchor point.

6- Temporary anchor points should be arranged out of working area to

avoid hanging materials can be Caught by temporary cable, this can
cause collapse to erected structures.

7- Check lifting weight, crane position with capacity.

B)Erection

1- Lift column and move slightly to design position.

2- Slightly down column on casted insert plate.

3- Tighten nut bolt after column in right position.

4- Temporary cables will be applied to keep column in Position.

Honeycomb structure erection:

A ) Preparation

1- Install static line poles, static line and driven ropes into assembled
structure. Make sure all mentioned equipment was checked strictly.

2- Scaffolding should be prepared for workers to perform curve

structure-structure column connection.

3- Check lifting weight, crane position with capacity for applied

B) Erection

1- Lift slightly honeycomb structure up workers on the ground will drive

structure to right Position in coordination with crane.

2- Workers standing on scaffolding will adjust structure for welding

After structure was connected to right positions,

3- Another honeycomb structure will erect same as other.

4- Workers will follow structure with PPE attached to static lines to install
other member.

5- Crane will only released when all connection welding complete,

7. PRECAUTIONS
 Area to be clear for working safely
 PTW, Pep Talk and daily tool box shall be given before starting the
job daily.
 Height-trained workers and skilled persons shall be involved.
 Use the PPE and safety Equipments as per safety norms
 Inspection of tools and tackles to be done by P&M in charge
