Chess
Chess
went on for 20 hours and included 269 moves? Chess is a game of logic and
strategy. Chess can help your brain as Hikaru Nakamura said 'Critical
thinking is the most important factor with chess. As it is in life, you
need to think before you make decisions."
Like any boardgame, chess has rules. Chess is a game where you must
think about your opponent’s next move. There are different pieces that you
play with. The pieces you play with are called the king, queen, rook, knight,
bishop, and lastly pawn. Each piece moves differently. For example, the
queen moves everywhere in all directions, while the king moves one square
in all directions. The bishop moves diagonally, while the knight moves two
squares in one direction and then turns and goes one square to the side.
Furthermore, the rook moves horizontally and vertically. The three golden
rules are the main moves and are most important. These rules will not only
help you win the game but bring your king to safety. These three golden
rules are, bring your king to safety, bring your pieces towards the center, and
lastly develop your minor pieces. Lastly, Checkmate is when a player's king
is in check, threatened with capture there is no escape for the king. In the
end, the player automatically loses when they are checkmated.
Magnus Carlsen is most likely to be the world’s best chess player. Showing
extraordinary talent when he was young to becoming the world’s youngest
grandmaster at the age of 13 and 4 months. Carlsen was born November
30th, 1990, in Tonsberg, Norway. From an early age he showed talent. He
could solve a 50-piece jigsaw puzzle when he was 2 years old, and build Lego
sets that were for ages 10-14 at the age of 4. His parents, noticing his talent,
taught Magnus chess at the age of 5. At first, he was not that interested but
as he grew up, he started liking chess. Carlsen broke the record of becoming
a grandmaster at the age of 13 and 4 months. He later became the world's
top chess player in July 2011 at 21.
In conclusion, I recommend chess for people because it helps your brain. Not
only that, but it also helps you make better decisions later in life. Overall,
chess could help kids in the future.
