Background of Study and Literature Review
3.1 Background of Study
UI/UX design play a crucial role in shaping digital experiences, blending
creativity and functionality to engage users and achieve business goals. The field
encompasses various disciplines, including visual design, interaction design, and
user experience research. Effective design is not just about aesthetics—it focuses
on creating user-centric solutions that are visually appealing, easy to use, and
aligned with client objectives.

In today’s competitive market, businesses rely heavily on digital platforms to

build their brand and connect with customers. Graphic designers create visual
assets such as logos, marketing materials, and social media content that help
establish brand identity. UI/UX designers focus on improving usability and user
engagement across websites and mobile applications through thoughtful design
and testing processes.

Website development is integral to the success of any digital strategy. Platforms

like WordPress have made it easier for businesses to create customizable and
responsive websites that cater to their unique needs. The design team at Ikigai
Technology works on projects ranging from branding to web development,
collaborating with clients across industries to deliver tailored digital solutions.

With the growing demand for seamless and intuitive user experiences, UI/UX
design has become increasingly important. It emphasizes user research,
wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing to create solutions that meet user
expectations. Tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, and WordPress enable designers to
translate ideas into functional digital experiences. By integrating graphic design
and UI/UX practices, organizations can ensure that their digital presence is both
engaging and effective.

11
3.2 Literature Review

UI/UX design have evolved significantly with advancements in technology and

user-centric approaches. Research in these fields emphasizes the importance of
user experience, responsive design, and effective visual communication in
enhancing brand engagement and digital interaction.

A study by Norman and Nielsen (2021) highlights the critical role of user research
and usability testing in improving user satisfaction and product adoption. They
found that websites with well-designed interfaces and intuitive navigation increase
user retention rates by up to 50%. This research supports the growing emphasis on
creating seamless user experiences through iterative design processes and
usability testing.

In the realm of graphic design, Wong (2020) underlines the impact of visual
storytelling in brand communication. He suggests that cohesive visual identities—
encompassing logos, color schemes, and typography—help businesses build trust
and recognition among their target audiences. Moreover, the integration of motion
graphics and interactive elements has been shown to improve audience
engagement in digital marketing campaigns (Taylor, 2023).

WordPress and other content management systems (CMS) have also been widely
studied for their role in democratizing web development. According to a report by
CMS Insights (2022), 43% of all websites on the internet are powered by
WordPress, owing to its flexibility and user-friendly interface. Research indicates
that adopting CMS platforms allows designers and businesses to develop
responsive websites quickly and efficiently, ensuring a consistent user experience
across devices (CMS Insights, 2022).

In summary, literature in the fields of graphic design and UI/UX design

emphasizes the importance of user-centric design, consistent visual identity, and
responsive web development. Tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and
WordPress are instrumental in modern design practices, enabling designers to
create intuitive and engaging digital experiences.
