3. You are provided with a convex lens, a metre ruler, lens holder, white screen, a candle
and matches.
a. Arrange the apparatus as shown in figure 1.

b. Place a candle at a distance of 20 cm from centre the lens (u).
c. Light the candle.
d. Move the screen until a clear image of the candle flame is focused onto the white
screen.
e. Measure the distance from the screen to the centre of the lens (v) and record in
Table 1 of results.

4. You are provided with following materials: voltmeter, ammeter, 5 connecting wires,
nichrome wire, crocodile clips, cell holder and 2 cells

a. Connect the circuit as shown below

b. Move the crocodile clip Y along the nichrome wire until the ammeter reads 0.9A

c. Record the voltage across length XY of the nichrome wire

d. Move the crocodile clip Y along the nichrome wire until the ammeter now reads
0.7A

e. Record the new voltmeter reading across the new length XY of the wire in the
table below under 0.7A

f. Repeat steps b to e for ammeter reading of 0.5A, 0.4A and 0.3A
