I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine
literature during the Period of Apprenticeship as a means of
examining conflicts; various purposeful listening and viewing
strategies; difference between literal and figurative language;
ways to extract and condense information based on library
sources; verbal and non-verbal cues in oral communication;
and types of phrases, clauses, and sentences.

B. Performance Standards The learner transfers learning by: resolving conflicts presented
in literary selections; using tools and mechanisms in locating
library resources; extracting information and noting details
from texts to write a précis, summary, or paraphrase;
distinguishing between and using literal and figurative
language and verbal and non-verbal cues; use phrases, clauses,
and sentences meaningfully and appropriately.

C. Learning Research a topic with support using two or three sources

IV. PROCEDURES
1. DIAGNOSTIC TEST (5 Minutes)
 Preparatory Activity
Greeting the students, asking them to seat properly, and
the teacher will check the attendance.

a. Pre-Test (5 Minutes)
 The teacher will conduct a Pre-Test and will call at
least nine (9) students to answer to know how much
they already know about the topic.
I. Fill in the blanks with the missing letters to
complete each word.
1. T _ X _ B O _K - it is a learning material used as a
standard work for the study of a particular subject.
2. M_G_Z_N_ - it is a periodical publication
containing articles and illustrations, typically covering
a particular subject or area of interest.
3. N_W_P_P_R - it is a printed publication that
is usually issued daily or weekly consisting of folded or
unstapled sheets which contain news, feature articles,
advertisements and correspondence.
4. J_U_N_L - it is a daily record of news and
events of a personal nature; a diary.
5. W _ R _ B _ O _ - it is a student’s book
containing instructions and exercises relating to a
particular subject.

II. Reading Time! A short story will be played and


students will answer the following questions:
1. What is the name of the boy in the story?
2. What did Cesar and his siblings do after dinner?
3. Why did Cesar and his family listen to the radio?
4. Why did Cesar remember all the details in the radio
drama program?

2. MOTIVATION
(5 Minutes)
 The teacher will show two different pictures to the
students and will be asked the following questions:
1. How often do you watch a television?
2. How often do you read a newspaper?
3. Why do you watch TV? And why do you read
newspapers?

3. TRANSITION THROUGH
EXAMPLES (5 Minutes)
 The teacher will show different pictures and will let the
students identify each. The teacher will ask the students
on how they will be a responsible user of each
platform.

4. DISCUSSING NEW
CONCEPTS
(15 Minutes)

 The teacher will ask the students about their own ideas
on the definition and examples of print and broadcast
media. Afterwards, the teacher will discuss about the

 The students will be grouped into three (3) groups.
Activity #1: Identify the differences between print and
broadcast media.

 Students will be asked about what they have learned
from the discussion (Call at least 2 students to
generalize the lesson).
9. SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT

 Activity #3: Please explain the following statements and


give at least one example situation.
1. It sends information to remote places and helps in
distant learning.
2. Mass media provide information to the people within a
short time.
3. It takes a wide coverage of information regarding
anything that is happening in any comer of the world.
