COLUMN B A. Halo B. Not holy; impure C. To throw with force or recklessness D. A vertical strip separating window panes E. Gross irreverence toward a hallow person, place or things.

3. Cite the line that shows that the girl really committed sin with her lover. 4. How do the town people describe the girl? Cite the line. 5. Explain the following lines: Her souls cathedral burned by his desires or that he left her aureole in flame 6. What do these lines tell us? And found her heaven in the depths

of hell 7. For you, what could be the feeling of the girl?

deserved to be in hell. The girl for sure was very sad, and lonely about the reaction of the people. It could be that the girl was ashamed for what did she have done. The girl probably will hate the people around her. Yes, because as we all know the word Soledad is a Spanish word for solitude or loneliness and the girl in the poem was very sad and lonely because she was condemned by the people in their town. Yes, because everybody commits these imperfections/ flaws. In this world sins, mistakes and errors are inevitable. For no man is perfect. Somewhat the action of the people is correct because we cannot please everyone and they had their own reasons and understanding. On the other hand their reactions are inappropriate because whatever happened and decision that the girl had done the people had no right to question it. And who are they to judge her when everybody commits mistakes.

8. Is the title suitable? Why?

9. Is the poem SOLEDAD successful in telling us that mistakes, sins and errors deserve forgiveness?

10. Is the action of the people appropriate? Why?

H. VALUING: 1. If you were the girl would you allow yourself to be in the position of the girl in the poem? 2. Do you agree with the action of the people?

If I were the girl in the poem I will not allow myself to be in the position of the girl because I believe that sex is an act that should be done in the bound of marriage. And I will not allow myself to be miserable. I do not agree because I believe that person who commits mistakes deserve a second chance. For condemning them is just like becoming them.

I. ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY: The teacher divides the class into three groups.

Each group will make the poem a song by putting a melody in the poem. I will give you fifteen minutes to do it and three minutes to present it.

The students follow the direction
