The teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual and skills growth. This teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in a hands-on, contextual learning environment while also developing work-place skills in the build-and-design career areas. Primary Responsibilities: Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences Identifies, selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying learning styles, ethics, social and economic backgrounds and special needs. Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement. Team teaches with instructional team members Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures to grant credit by demonstrated proficiency. Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment to maximize the outcomes for each student Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. Models work-place maturity in leading students development toward positive workplace skills and attitudes Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area and/or program. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents and partner schools. Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals. Demonstrates gains in student performance. Participates in training and in-services as required. Terms: 191 days Salary: $37,000 60,000

Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, developing shared lessons and delivering instruction with co-teaching partners Works collaboratively with professionals in the design-build industry Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor
Education, Certifications and Work Related Experience: Associate Degree (Bachelor Degree preferred) Teaching experience preferred Work or related experience in the design or building industry Journeymen standing in the trades or recognized certification in trades or related area Certified or recognized training in Architecture or Engineering field CTE certified or (willing and able to meet requirement with in 3 years) 2 years work in the design build industry Knowledge-based Requirements: Certified in relevant subject area (or eligible to be certified ) Knowledge of students learning styles and needs Knowledge, understanding or familiarity with the building and design industry Understanding of embedded academic content in contextual learning environments (credit by proficiency) Technical Competencies and Skills: Possesses strong oral and written communication skills Works independently as needed with little direct supervision Works as part of a teaching team Accepts responsibility for student outcomes and learning Is self-motivated Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve Academy goals Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills Is comfortable and confident around high school students Working Conditions: Physical Ability: Contextual leaning will take place in the classrooms, work shops, skill or training labs and on the work sites of construction-related areas; Staff will be expected to accompany, supervise and instruct students in these settings including the use tools and equipment and the demonstration of academic skills. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination Some tasks require oral communications ability. Some instruction will require supervision of student learning groups engaged in contextual leaning, learning or working activities, individual and group projects and work-place projects
