DIM - Driver Information Module

Terberg BC-182 / DT-xx3 / YT-xx2 / YT-202EV
DIM

Introduction

• First introduced in the BC182 mk2,

December 2012

• Since start 2015 also introduced in the YT-xx2,

except for tractors outside-EU with lower
emission standard engines

• CAN-bus, digital and analog I/O ports

• Various interfaces possible / in use

• Can be changed / updated via USB stick

2
DIM

Different CAN-bus layout

• In the YT-xx2 the DIM replaces the MFA10 dashboard instrument and displays values
available from the engine and transmission controller on the CAN-bus

• In the DT-xx3

Variation in screen lay out:

• There are 2 graphical interfaces used among the various vehicle types.
The appearance of functions will be slightly different, but functionality is the same.

• Validity of functions is depending on type of vehicle and specification. Most common

basic functions are shown.

• The lay out of advanced pages is

depending on vehicle type /
CAN bus lay out.

4
DIM Basic functions
DIM

Speed indicator

The tractor speed indicator consists of a green line showing the actual tractor speed
between 0-50 km/h or 0-30 mph (depending configuration). In this case 12 km/h.

If activated, the red line on the right shows the actual tractor speed limit. In this case
the tractor speed is limited to 20 km/h.

6
DIM

Fuel level / Ad Blue gauge

The gauge shows the fuel level in green and the AdBlue level in blue as a percentage
of the top level. When either of the levels drops below 10%, the color of the icons
changes to red.

Air circuits pressure gauge

The purple indicator represents the air pressure of circuit 1 and the blue indicator the
pressure of circuit 2. When either of the air circuits drops below 5.0 bar, the color of the
icons changes to red.
7
DIM

Engine speed ( RPM ) indicator

The bar in the middle of the display gives a indication of the engine speed. To optimize
the fuel rate it is recommended to keep the engine speed in the green zone.

Gear indicator

The character and digit in the middle of the tachometer indicate the status of the
transmission.
The left character indicates the direction F, N or R.
The left digit indicates the current gear.

The transmission can be in a fuel efficient ECO mode or use

a Power mode if required.
Refer to the transmission sectionin the operation manual.

8
DIM

Engine

• Engine oil pressure low / high ( red )

If the light comes when the engine is running it indicates that the oil pressure is too
low. STOP the engine immediately and check the oil level. Top up if necessary.

• Engine oil level low / high ( red )

If this light illuminates the engine oil level is too high or too low.
STOP the engine immediately and do a check on the oil level.

9
DIM

Engine

• Coolant temperature ( amber / red )

If the engine coolant temperature increases excessively, the amber warning light
comes on and the buzzer sounds intermittent. If the temperature continues to rise
and becomes critical the red light appears and the buzzer sounds continuously until
the temperature falls below the critical value. Stop the vehicle immediately.
Check the coolant level in the expansion tank and check the cooling system.

• Coolant level low ( amber )

Top up coolant

10
DIM

Engine

• Engine fault (code) active ( amber )

A problem or a potential problem has been detected. Have it checked or repaired.
Refer to the fault code in the engine service manual or refer to authorised service
personnel.

• Stop engine ( red )

Stop the vehicle and engine as soon as possible to prevent further damage.

11
DIM

Engine ( Mercedes T4i / T4F only )

• Fault in exhaust system ( MIL / amber )

The fault must be resolved by authorised service personnel.

• Engine torque limited ( amber )

Caused by an AdBlue system failure. Check engine error memory.

12
DIM

Engine ( Cummins T4F only )

• Regeneration start switch active ( amber )

Manual cleaning can be started with a switch. When manual cleaning is required, the
SCR system cleaning lamp is illuminated constant. When manual cleaning is ongoing,
the cleaning lamp is flashing (*).

• Regeneration inhibit switch active ( amber )

The automatic cleaning can be inhibited or stopped with a switch. When this switch
is active, the SCR system cleaning stop lamp is illuminated (*).

* Refer to the engine section in the operation manual.

13
DIM

Engine ( Cummins T4F only )

• High exhaust system temperature ( amber )

This lamps shows when exhaust temperatures are high and could illuminate during
normal engine operation or during a regeneration.

WARNING
O
When HEST lamp shows, the exhaust gas temperature could reach 800 C, which is hot
enough to ignite or melt common materials and to burn people.

Make sure that the exhaust outlet is not directed at any surface or material that can melt, burn or
explode.

14
DIM

Engine

• Wait to start ( white )

Do not start the engine until this lamp goes off. The intake air is preheated.

• Air filter polluted ( white )

Warning light illuminates when the air filter element needs replacing.

15
DIM

Engine

• Water in fuel ( amber )

This warning light illuminates if there is a high water level in the fuel system water
separator. Stop the vehicle as soon as possible and drain the water separator.

• Low fuel pressure ( gas motor only / white )

If the gas pressure in the fuel tank drops below 4.5 bar this warning light will
illuminate. As soon as the pressure rises again above 4.5 bar it will fade out.
The low pressure is an indication of a low amount of fuel in the tank.

16
DIM

Transmission

• Transmission fault (code) active ( amber )

A problem or a potential problem has been detected. Have it checked or repaired.
Refer to the fault code in the transmission manual.

Electrics
• Alternator not running ( red )
This warning light shows when the engine is not running. The light should extinguish
when the engine is running. If the light comes on while the engine is running, there
could be a fault in the alternator circuit. Have the
vehicle checked by authorised service personnel.

17
DIM

General

• Vehicle failure ( amber )

If a fault occurs in the central body controller, an error code will be set and the
failure light will be illuminated. Refer to the fault code in the manual.

Fifth wheel lock indicator

• Locked positon ( green ) • Unlocked position ( red )

18

Indicators

• Left • Hazard • Right

19
DIM

Brake related

• Parking brake active ( red )

When the parking brake lever is set in its lowermost position and the parking brake is
applied, the warning light illuminates until the parking brake is disengaged.

• Engine brake ( option / green )

When the engine brake is activated (position 1 or 2), this light will come on.

20
DIM

Brake related

• Brake wear pad indication ( option / amber )

If the vehicle is fitted with disc brakes, brake pad wear is monitored by a wear
sensor. When this warning light
illuminates,
the brake pads should be renewed as soon
as
possible.

Differential

• Rear axle differential lock warning ( option / amber )

The warning light is illuminated continuously while the differential lock is engaged.

21
DIM

Options

• PTO / Extra hydraulics enabled ( green )

This light shows if a power take off ( PTO ) or extra hydraulics is active.

• Lift height limit reached ( red )

The lift frame has reached or crossed ( override ) a preset lifting or lowering limit.

22
DIM

Options

• Air suspension pressure release ( green )

Air can be released from the rear axle air suspension. When the lifting system is set
to its lowest position, releasing air from the air suspension will lower the fifth wheel
even further. This may be necessary in the case of coupling a low trailer.
