INTRODUCTION

 A pedestrian scramble, also known as scramble intersection and scramble corner in

Canada, 'X' Crossing in the UK, diagonal crossing in the US, exclusive pedestrian
interval, or Barnes Dance, is a type of traffic signal movement that temporarily
stops all vehicular traffic, thereby allowing pedestrians to cross an intersection in
every direction, including diagonally, at the same time.
 A scramble crossing keeps pedestrians safe by temporarily shutting down all
traffic to vehicles for a duration of 15 seconds, allowing people to cross the
intersection from all corners to any direction.
HENRY BARNES
LITERATURE REVIEW

 For 15 seconds, pedestrians cross diagonally at every corner at the intersection.

 When there are not two-lane roadways in four-legged intersection, the increase
rate is 64.3%.
 Promotion of pedestrian priority and the relief of pedestrian congestion on more
traditional orthogonal crossings and footways particularly where pedestrian
volumes are very high
CONCLUSION

 The government’s solutions simply aren’t effective.

 Growing population = more vehicles
 Implementation of scramble crossings can be a more sustainable solution.
 Walking and crossing streets become safer.
 May be applied to locations that have heavy pedestrian volume.
