For his 25th birthday, Suga
donated ten kilograms of meat
to 39 orphanages in Korea under
the name of the group's fan
club, ARMY. A year later, he
donated KR ₩100,000
(US$88,000) to the Korea
Pediatric Cancer Foundation
along with 329 dolls of his BT21
character Shooky.
He debuted in the group BTS in 2013
under the company Big Hit Music. In
2010, before debuting with BTS, he was
part of an underground rap group in his
hometown called D-Town. On August
15, 2016, he published his first Solo
debut mixtape titled Agust D, from
which two music videos came out for
the songs "Agust D" and "Give it to
Me". He has over 100 songs credited to
his name by the Korea Music Copyright
Association (KOMCA).
Min Yoon-gi was born on March 9, 1993 in
the city of Daegu, southeast of South Korea.
He became interested in music in fifth grade
after seeing a Stony Skunk performance on
television, and that's how He began listening
to hip-hop groups such as Epik High. In the
second year of middle school, he performed
for the first time on stage, performing the
song "Go Back" by the group Dynamic Duo.
At the age of thirteen, he began to learn to
use MIDI technology and to write his own
songs.
At the age of seventeen and thanks to a
mentor, he became part of an underground
rap group called D-Town. While he was
part of this group, he produced the song
"518-062", which is a commemorative song
to the Gwangju Massacre. I sold them. Then
I started rapping and performing naturally.
While working there it was difficult to pay
for food or transportation. But even though
it was difficult, I wanted to make music, so
I put up with it.
In 2010 Suga participated in the Hit
It auditions held by Big Hit. He came
second in the competition that was
held and joined the company on
November 7, 2010.
Suga trained under Big Hit
Entertainment for three years along
with his teammates RM and J-Hope.
Despite having entered Big Hit as a
songwriter, on June 13, 2013 he
debuted with the group BTS as a
rapper with the single "No More
Dream". » from their first debut
album,
Suga confessed that his older brother had
played an important role in his music
career by being the only member of his
family who had supported him when he
decided to audition for Big Hit. He came
to write the song "Never Mind" included
in the album The Most Beautiful Moment
in Life, Part 2 about his family's contempt
for his desire to become a musician. The
pseudonym Agust D comes from "DT
Suga" in reverse. , the name he used when
he started writing lyrics, where "DT"
stands for "Daegu Town".
