    Shri Tatyasaheb Kore Warana Co-operative Sugar Factory

    It is located in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra near Warana Hamlet. The ground work for the establishment started in 1954 where 231 farmers participated from 22 villages. These farmers contributed around 3 lakh rupees for the establishment of the factory in 1955. Warna Sugar Factory was established and started working in 1959.

    It was the movement initiated by Shri Tatyasaheb Kore. It is now in the hands of Vinay Kore (MLA) who is grandson of Shri Tatyasaheb. It is a cooperative. It is ISO 9001-2000 certified. It constitute around 900 employees. Total area of the plant : 20 acres. Annual Turn over : 600 crores .

    They collect Sugar cane from around 80 Villages at present . Around 19510 Farmers are members of this Co-operative. They collect around 10 metric ton of Sugarcane per day . Harvesting and Transportation done by the company. They collect 1ton Sugarcane @ Rs.2020/

    Cane is crushed 5 times for complete extraction. Sulphur is added to cane juice. Juice is boiled in boiler. For Crystal formation ,spirit + Sugar seed mix is added to Raw Sugar. Seed Raw Sugar is washed 4 times in the machine.

    Sugar crystals are collected in the silo , beneath the processing plant. Sugar crystals are graded into 3 categories: L 30 (Big) M 30 (Medium) S 30 (Small) Packaging in bags of capacity 50 kg and 100 kg. They use jute & gunny bags for packaging. For 50 kg packing only plastic bags are used.

    Baggase is boiled in boiler. Steam is created at : 266 degree C temp 350 pound/Sq.mt Electricity thus produced is used for own consumption.

    Water used in Sugar Processing is used for alcohol production. Alcohol produced is banned by govt.,so it used for making chemicals. Alcohol is supplied to Alcoholic kasturi Ltd for chemical preparation.

    1 Tonne of sugarcane = 120 kg sugar crystal. 1/4th of total production is exported, rest sold in local market. Only small graded sugar is exported. Exported to 25 countries i.e. Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Srilanka etc. AnnualLy 22 lakh qt sugar is produced.

    This factory works for 6 months (OctMarch) in a year. For remaining 6 months: 1/3rd staff get half salary. 1/3rd staff is retained for machine repairing, get full time salary. Remaining constitute permanent staff, get full time salary. For security purpose, biometric methods are used.
