Approaches

Froebel Approach
• Born on 21 April 1782 Friedrich Froebel was a
German educator who invented the
kindergarten. ... Drawing on his mathematical
and scientific knowledge Froebel developed
a set of gifts (wooden blocks 1-6) and
introduced occupations, (including sticks, clay,
sand, slates, chalk, wax, shells, stones,
scissors, paper folding).

• Gifts
Songs
• Froebel emphasized that the content of songs
and rhymes was of importance and that they
should always be educational. Children enjoy
'nonsense' and traditional rhymes, such as
'Ring a ring of roses' or 'Pop goes the weasel',
but we must always also be aware of where a
child is in their development and learning.

Montessori
• Montessori is a method of education that is
based on self-directed activity, hands-on
learning and collaborative play. In Montessori
classrooms children make creative choices in
their learning, while the classroom and the
highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate
activities to guide the process.
• Maria Montessori, (born August 31, 1870 Italy.
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician,
educator, and innovator, acclaimed for her
educational method that builds on the way
children learn naturally.

Practical life
• Montessori - Practical Life - Introduction. Life:
means the way of living. Practical life Exercises
are just that, they are Exercises so the child
can learn how to do living activities in a
purposeful way. ... In the Grace and Courtesy
Exercises, the children work on the
interactions of people to people.
Sensorial
• The sensorial area in a Montessori classroom
focuses on lessons and activities that help
develop the five senses: seeing, hearing,
touching, tasting, and smelling. The lessons
and activities provided in the sensorial area of
the classroom help children clarify, classify,
and understand the world around them.
Language
• Montessori language materials are designed
primarily to teach children the intricacies of
written and spoken language. A firm grasp of
writing and speaking will allow students to
progress with their learning. Students use
language materials to explore letters, sounds,
handwriting, and eventually spelling and
writing.
Mathematics
• The acquisition of mathematical principles is
seen as developing logically from concrete to
abstract, and from simple to complex.
Culture
• Montessori cultural lessons expose children to
different people and their cultures. These
lessons include how people have adapted to
different climates, their homes, clothing, food,
and customs. Through continent and cultural
studies.
Reggio Emilia
• The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational
philosophy and pedagogy focused on
preschool and primary education. This
approach is a student-centered and
constructivist self-guided curriculum that uses
self-directed, experiential learning in
relationship-driven environments.
• It was first developed after the conclusion of
World War II by psychologist Loris and
parents in the surrounding area of Reggio
Emilia in Italy, where the philosophy gets its
name. They believed that children would
benefit from a new and progressive way of
learning.
• The Reggio Emilia Approach was founded in
Reggio Emilia, a small wealthy city in northern
Italy shortly after World War II. At the time,
working parents were looking for a  different
kind of child care for their children, one that
would foster critical thinking and collaboration

Bank street approach
• The Bank Street method employs a child-centered
education program. Students are offered active
educational opportunities in areas that develop
cognitive, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Learning often includes more than one subject and
in groups, allowing that children learn at various
levels and using different methods. Play is often
used as an educational jumping off point, and
teachers take advantage of teachable moments
wherever possible.
• Bank Street School for Children was founded
in 1916 in New York City by visionary
educator Lucy Sprague Mitchell as The
Bureau of Educational Experiments, a
laboratory nursery school staffed by teachers,
psychologists, and researchers who worked
collaboratively to discover the environments
in which children grew
