Creating an Appropriate
Learning Environment
OBSERVE,
ANALYZE,
REFLECT
OBSERVE
Observe and use the observation sheet provided for you to document your observations.
1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages.
2. How many boys are there? How many girls?
3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?
4. Can the learners already work independently?
5. Describe their span of attention.

● Students at the school that I observed are intelligent, attentive, and actively interact with their
teachers. There are 17 males and 14 females in the Grade IV-Venus class that I observed. Their
ages range from 9 to 10 years old. Most of the class knows how to manage their behavior. I can tell
this because I used to hear them using positive self-talk like "I know what to do", "I can do this"
specifically when they are in an outburst negative situation . Most of the students can already work
independently since they can complete the activities in the classroom on their own, but they still
require the teacher's assistance at times. During class discussions, students pay close attention to
the teacher, and they might be noisy when they have activities. They may also concentrate on their
task and complete it on time.
ANALYZE
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids, books, students'
belongings, supplies, etc.)? Describe these areas. Will it make a difference if these areas for specific
purposes are not present?
● The classroom had designated areas for different uses, including storage for teaching aids to maximize
space, make the most of available time, and be useful; bookshelves to help students by allowing for
independent reading and curriculum extensions; and medicine cabinets to provide quick access for any
conditions. If these sections are absent from the classroom, something will appear different. For instance, if
there is no medicine cabinet and a student has a critical injury, it would be worse if the instructor checks
every classroom that has a first aid kit.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? List them down. Do these rules reinforce
positive behavior?
 PLEASE WEAR A FACEMASK BEFORE ENTERING THE CLASSROOM.
 BODY TEMPERATURE CHECK IS REQUIRED.
 PLEASE CLEAN YOUR HAND WITH SOAP AND HAND SANITIZER.
 PLEASE KEEP THE CLASSROOM NEAT AND CLEAN.
 AVOID TOUCHING YOUR EYES, NOSE, MOUTH AND FACE.
 DON’T SHARE YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS WITH YOUR FRIENDS.
 STAY HEALTHY AND SAFE.
The pupils' ability to learn and provide constructive discipline is demonstrated by how successfully the rules
are being implemented in the classroom. Students who take ownership of their activities develop greater
awareness and are shielded from danger.
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? If the Resource Teacher is available, ask him/her
to describe the process. What's the effect of students' participation in rule-making on student's behavior?
● No, since children in Grade 2 are not capable of setting classroom rules. The aforementioned guidelines are all
about new normal practices. The following are crucial reminders from their teacher to stay safe.
4. What are the daily routines done by the Resource Teacher? (prayer, attendance, assignment of monitors,
warm-up activities, etc.) How are they done?
● Teachers frequently begin their daily routines with prayer. The teacher will then check her class's attendance before
leading a motivating and energizing exercise. The instructor then explains her topic, checks the students'
homework, and assigns seatwork. If there are any tasks at the conclusion of the discussion, the instructor will write
them on any sides of the blackboard and put them there to remind the pupils.
5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement? Does this help in managing the class?
● The pupils were seated in alphabetical order, from A to Z. She does, however, permit pupils who struggle with
vision or hearing to sit in front. With this setup, the instructor can quickly identify the absent kids. Additionally,
she gains the ability to recognize a student's name, which is helpful when performing an oral recitation

6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?

● Due to pupils' fear of their teachers, there isn't much noise in the classroom I observed. If the teacher is not there,
they begin to make noise and wander around the room. While instructing them to quiet their voices, the instructor,
on the other hand, keeps her composure. She warns them that their loud sounds could disturb other classrooms.
7. If a learner is not following instruction or is off-task, what does the Resource Teacher do? Describe the
behavior strategies used.
● The instructor still considers or accepts their work or activity in this case, but she warns them that if they make the
same mistake again, she will not accept it. This will serve as a lesson for them to learn from their mistakes and to
pay attention to what the instructor says and to follow the teacher's instructions attentively.

8. What does the Resource Teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (Behavior strategies)
● The teacher reinforces positive conduct by establishing classroom rules and resolving issues in a courteous
manner. As a result, she talks calmly to them, not sternly. Praise successes to celebrate them. Giving them prices or
incentives for working harder. Making the class discussions enjoyable or fun. encourage them to work together
and assist their other classmates who needs help.
REFLECT
Reflection as a future teacher.
1. Why do you need to enforce positive discipline?

● In the classroom, positive discipline is essential. Even if the students are well-behaved, unforeseen
events might try the patience of the teachers. To manage problems in the classroom without being
unduly harsh on the students, positive discipline is required. Students won't have low self-esteem,
which will lessen undesirable behaviors and responses.   Additionally, students will be responsible for
their actions, cautious and critical thinkers, and smart in a variety of situations.

favorable result.
ANALYZE
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners' behavior?
● Routine and classroom order help kids manage their learning more effectively and build responsibility,
which enhances student behavior. Additionally, when a classroom is well-organized, it is easier for
teachers to encourage their pupils to actively participate in class discussions. This boosts students' self-
esteem, manages their behavior, and promotes connections in the classroom. This lowers the possibility
of pupils failing lessons. Furthermore, when the classroom is structured, the pupils will feel comfortable
doing their classwork.

2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the classroom organization and
routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?
In designing classroom organization and routine, the teacher must consider the following theories and
principles:
 Behaviorist theory or Behaviorism which is focusing on the behaviors of the students including the
positive and the negative ones.
 Humanist theory or Humanism that emphasizes the human capabilities, what the students’ goals, their
learning style and preferences.
 Democratic theory in which the students are given the opportunities to participate in the decision-
making regarding learning as well as the equal chances to choose their own educational path.
 Psychoanalytic theory in which the teacher must consider individuals thoughts, feelings and
experiences consciously or subconsciously.
 Cognitive theory should also be considered to give attention to the learners’ mental processes and
their construction of knowledge.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? In motivating
students? Why were they effective?
The following are the behavioral strategies that teachers may use to manage the behavior of students or motivate
them effectively:
 Organize the classroom set-up in a new learner-centered classroom space where students can be more
independent and self-reliant.
 Utilize wide variety of tools, materials, approaches, and strategies in teaching to support the different types
of learners.
 Create classroom expectations or simply classroom rules that are achievable by students.
 Reinforce teaching routines and procedures effectively.
 Acknowledge good behavior and reward them for doing well. This will not only motivate them, but this will
maintain their demonstration of good behavior.
REFLECT
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade year level do you see
yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?
● In the future the grade level that I can manage is Grade 3. I will organized the classroom first it
must be well- ventilated Second, a mini cabinet for small library and other cabinet for every
subjects may found inside the classroom. Lastly, I will organize the classroom those books and
other learning materials may arrange well and everything inside the room will be colorful and
ofcourse the classroom environment should appropriate for the learners.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose these
rules?
The rules that I would be most likely to implement in this group of students are the following:
• Be on time. – To help them realize the value of punctuality.
• Be respectful. – A common rule that everyone should learn.
• Follow Directions. – To remind them that through following directions, thing will work well.
• Keep Quiet. Raise your hand if you want to speak. – To minimize loud noises.
• No foods/gums/drinks while in class discussion. – It is disrespectful for teachers if the students
are eating while they are discussing.
• Ask questions. – To normalize raising queries if the concepts are not clear for them. And, to avoid
them from making wrong outputs.
● 3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

Yes, if teachers want their students to develop leadership skills and understand the value of accepting
accountability for their own actions and behavior, they must involve them in the process of
developing the rules for the classroom. To establish the norms that need to be followed, instructors
and students can collaborate. On the other hand, as they are the ones most knowledgeable with the
regulations and most equipped to facilitate discussion of new regulations, teachers should be the ones
to offer guidance in drafting the rules.
