ADVANTAGES OF NETWORKING
Sr. No. Advantage Description

There is no need for separate media to store files.

Efficient Use of Storage
1 Media Files stored in server can be used by many user at a
time.
While personal data can be lost by individual users,
2 Preserving Information files stored on server are safe as regular backups
takes place for server.
In a network, devices (e.g. printer) can be stared by

Cost for each user. This reduce the operation cost.
In a network, there is or single point (e.g. server)
4 Efficiency for modification / deletion of data / software. This
increase system efficiency.
Network system has made hard copy system
5 Redundancy almost redundant as files can be sent / shared in
digital form.
Quickest Document e.g. files sent by email is other applications like

A Network interface card (also known as
1 Network Card (NIC) a NIC, network card, or network interface
controller) is an electronic device that connects a
computer to a computer network, usually a LAN.

Types of Network
Personal Area Network (PAN)

A personal area
network (PAN) is a
computer network
for interconnecting
devices centered on
an individual
person's workspace.

A PAN provides data transmission among devices such as

computers, smartphones, tablets and personal digital assistants.
Local Area Network - LAN
A Local Area
Network (LAN) is a
computer network
that spans a
relatively small area.
Most often, a LAN is
confined to a single
room, building or
group of buildings.

However, one LAN can be connected to other LANs over

any distance via telephone lines and radio waves.
