    Introduction
    Objective
    1. To be familiarize on different pig housing design
    and measurements
    2. To enumerate space requirement of pig pen

    • The best location for your farm is as far away as
    possible (about 1 kilometer) from other farms and
    neighbors.

    • This will serve as a natural screen in the prevention


    of diseases.

    • Distance from the neighbors will prevent complaints


    regarding pig odors, flies, noise and pollution.

    a. Concrete – should not be too rough and too
    smooth,2 to 3 % slopes
    • Floor shall be skid-resistant with 2% - 3 % slope
    towards a gutter or drainage canal.
    • The direction of the slope shall be away from the
    feeding trough.
    Pen Construction
    b. Slatted floors
    • Slotted floors should be made of concrete, plastic,
    metals or combination of such materials. It shall be
    constructed to allow manure and urine to pass
    through.
    Pen Construction
    Roofing
    • Roofing material should be made of corrugated G.I. sheets
    and other durable roofing materials. At least one-meter roof
    overhang shall be provided to ensure shade and to protect
    the swine from rain.

    • Roof should be equipped with gutters so that rainwater can


    be drained away separately.

    Ceiling (optional)
    • Ceiling height shall be at least 2.4 m high.
