INTRODUCTION
India is the world’s third largest producer and third largest consumer of electricity.
The national electric grid in India has an installed capacity of 373.436 GW as of 31
October 2020.
So, Smart grid delivers electrical power to the consumers using two way digital
technology.
Monitors the supply to the consumers and measurements.
WHAT IS ELECTRIC GRID
ELECTRICAL GRID :
An electrical grid is an interconnected network for delivering electricity from
producers to consumers which consists of-
Generating stations that produce electric power.
High voltage transmission lines that carry power from distance sources to demand centres.
Distribution lines that connect individual customers.
IDEA BEHIND SMART GRID
Balancing supply and demand
This in turn can maximize the output of equipment, help utilities lower cost, improve
reliabilities, decrease interruptions and reduce energy consumption.
FEATURES OF SMART GRID
The Smart grid represents the full suite of current and proposed responses to the
challenges of electricity supply. Some of its features are-
1. Reliability
2. Flexibility in topology
3. Efficiency
4. Load adjustment/Load balancing
5. Sustainability
6. Demand response support
7. Platform for advanced services

CONCLUSION
By using smart grid technology energy can be utilize maximum and would not
be wasted.
This technology also helps to save earth from the global warming.
