Gastronomy
Calamay
• a sticky and sweet delicacy. It is made of
glutinous rice, coconut milk, and palm
or brown sugar.
• best calamay in Bohol can be found in
the town of Jagna.
• Calamay is traditionally sold inside
smooth coconut shells tied together with
strips of red crepe paper. But you can
also buy them in small plastic tubs for
convenience.
Halang-halang
• Halang halang is a spicy chicken stew
made with coconut milk that originated
in the Visayas region but is also popular
in some regions of Mindanao.
• It is somewhat a fusion of Chicken
Tinola and Ginataang Manok. You will
get the ginger and papaya slices of
classic tinola and the creaminess of
ginataang manok from the coconut milk.
Ube Kinampay
• A type of purple yam, Ube Kinampay is
often used in making delicious desserts
like ice cream and halo-halo.
Dinumugan
• suman-like rice cake made with coconut
milk, sugar, and occasionally flavored
with chocolate.

CHOCOLATE HILSS
• The Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in
Bohol, Philippines, consisting of around 1,200
perfectly cone-shaped hills. During the dry season,
the grass covering these hills turns brown, giving
them a chocolatey appearance, which is the origin of
their name. The Chocolate Hills are a popular tourist
attraction, known for their unique and picturesque
landscape. They are recognized as one of the
country's natural wonders and are included in the
tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

friendship and goodwill between the Spaniards and

• The Bohol Mahogany Forest, more

Made Forest, is a dense forest stretching

forest is mainly made up of white and
red mahogany trees. It is part of a
reforestation project started over 50
years ago.
HINAGDANAN CAVE
• Hinagdanan Cave is a cave in the
municipality of Dauis on Panglao
Island, in Bohol Province, in the
Philippines. It is a naturally lighted
cavern with a deep lagoon and many
large stalactites and stalagmites. The
cave is lit by sunlight which filters
through holes in the ceiling.

Saulog Festival is a month-long

DANGGIT
• Cebu is known for its danggit (“dang-git”) –
salted, sun-dried rabbitfish (aka spine foot),
which is abundant and native to the island’s
shallower waters. The fish are split open,
cleaned, salted, and spread out on drying
racks under the sun.
• It is popular among locals as a breakfast
food, fried and paired with eggs, rice, and
atsara with a vinegar and chili dip on the
side.
DRIED MANGOES
• Dried mangoes are slices of
best-handpicked mangoes,
sun-dried and processed to
extend shelf life. They are
then neatly packed in small
plastic bags which are
preserved to make them
convenient for travelers.
These can be ripe or green.
PINTOS
• Cebu’s version of sweet
tamales that can be found in
Bogo City. It is made of
ground corn mixed with
milk, and butter or
margarine that are wrapped
in corn husks and then
boiled for hours.
CHORIZO DE CEBU
• is a Filipino pork sausage originating from Cebu.
It is a type of hamonada (sweet) longganisa. They
are distinctively red in color due to the use of
achuete seeds.
• Made from ground lean pork, ground pork fat,
salt, saltpeter, sugar, anise liqueur (anisado),
paprika, black pepper, garlic, and chilis to taste in
a hog casing. It can also be made without the
casing. They are usually fried or grilled and eaten
with white rice, puso, or garlic rice for breakfast.

• Dried squid (dried pusit) is
made from cleaned fresh
squids which are then sun-
dried. Another variation, the
dried shredded squid, is a
dried, shredded, and seasoned
seafood product. Both are
made from squid.

MACTAN SHRINE
• the improbable site of one of the
defining moments in the
Philippines' history. It was here on
27 April 1521 that Ferdinand
Magellan was fatally wounded at
the hands of Chief Lapu-Lapu. The
event is commemorated at the
Mactan Shrine on a stone plinth
bearing the date that Magellan was
felled.

known to grow up to 12
meters in length, yet despite
their enormous size, they
pose no danger to humans.
These docile creatures are
slow-moving and feed only
on tiny micro-organisms
KAWASAN FALLS
• three-stage cascade of clear turquoise
water from mountain springs located in
the jungles of the Cebu island. The falls
are part of the Kawasan River in
Badian, Cebu, in the Philippines.[2] The
water from the falls originates from the
Kabukalan Spring and passes through the
Kawasan gorge en route to the Matutinao
River and the Tanon Strait.

SINULOG FESTIVAL
• Sinulog Festival is a traditional

Basically, the festival is done by a
dance ritual, in which it tells the
story of the Filipino people's pagan
past and their acceptance of
Christianity.
PINTOS FESTIVAL
• a recently composed yearly
occasion in Bogo City, Cebu,
which commends a well known
delicacy produced using corn. The
celebration is a substitution of a
more established festival called
'Kuyayang Festival', which is
established in a conventional
romance move festivity.
TAG-ANITO FESTIVAL
• the festival of the town
geared towards reminiscing
the towns' history. “ Tag-
Anito” means inhabitants'
practice of worshipping
anitos or spirit and was
originally called the town of
Tudela.

PIAYA
• This unleavened flatbread is a popular
delicacy across Negros Occidental. It’s
usually filled with muscovado but in
recent years it has seen some exciting
transformations. There are ube-
flavored ones and those with
mangosteen and durian fillings.
NAPOLEONES
• Napoleones is a buttery puff pastry
layered in between with a smooth
custard filling. Local lore has it that
Conchita Conlu-Cuenca, who comes
from a family of sugar plantation
owners, was the one who invented the
recipe.
CANSI
• Cansí (Hiligaynon: kansi) is a Filipino
beef soup originating from Bacolod
which is spread across the rest of the
Western Visayas region. It is made
with beef shank and bone marrow
boiled until gelatinous.

THE RUINS
• A popular tourist destination in Talisay
City, The Ruins is the remains of the
grand mansion of the sugar baron Don
Mariano Ledesma Lacson. It is known
for its beautiful architecture and
gardens.
NEGRENSE
• The Balay Negrense (Hiligaynon for
Negrense House), also as Victor
Fernandez Gaston Ancestral House is a
museum in Silay City, Negros
Occidental in the Philippines,
showcasing the lifestyle of a late 19th-
century Negrense sugar baron.
SIPALAY
• Sipalay is a city in Southern Negros
Occidental, it is a 'Off the Beaten Path'
destination. Located about 200km from
both Bacolod and Dumaguete, this
town is surrounded by lovely deserted
white-sand beaches and dive reefs. The
main attraction is Sugar Beach.
MAG-ASO FALLS
• Nestled in the forest of Barangay Can-
omay are hidden waterfalls called
Mag-Aso Falls. They were named after
“aso” or smoke due to the drizzles
resembling smoke that is formed from
the strong drop of water. Out of 20 or
so waterfalls in Bohol, this cascade is
the most accessible from the capital
Tagbilaran City.
MT. KANLAON
• Canlaon volcano (also spelled
Kanlaon), the most active of the central
Philippines, forms the highest point on
the island of Negros. The massive
2435-m-high stratovolcano is dotted
with fissure-controlled pyroclastic
cones and craters, many of which are
filled by lakes.
DANJUGAN ISLAND
• Danjugan Island is a marine and
wildlife reserve, located in Barangay
Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental. It
is covered with a rainforest and has
five lagoons, three of which are
landlocked and two of which are
flooded at high tide and colonized by
coral and reef fish species.
MABINAY
CAVE
• Mabinay caves is one of the most
beautiful caves in the Philippines, and
is just two hours away from
Dumaguete. The caves have several
rappels, slides, and funtastic jumps.
The crystal clear water and the
beautiful rock formations will surely
thrill you.

• The Masskara Festival serves as a

• Celebrated in San Carlos City,
Pintaflores Festival is a vibrant event
featuring street dancing, floral-themed
costumes, and cultural presentations. It
usually takes place in November.
BABAYLAN
FESTIVAL
• Held in Bago City, Babaylan Festival
celebrates the city's history, culture,
and traditions. It honors the role of the
babaylans, who were ancient healers
and spiritual leaders. The festival
typically occurs in July.
Siquijor

Siquijor
• Tha capital of Siquijor province is siquijor.
• is a 4th class municipality and capital of the
province of Siquijor, Philippines. According to
the 2020 census, it has a population of 28,915
people.
• Siquijor is politically subdivided into 42
barangays. Each barangay consists of puroks
and some have sitios.
• Spanish priests arrived in Siquijor as early as
1780, it was not until 1794 that the town
became a municipality, the same year the parish
was established
SINAMPALOKANG
MANOK
• A sour soup made with chicken,
tamarind, and various vegetables. It's a
comforting and flavorful dish often
enjoyed with rice.
SIQUIJOR LECHON
• Roast pig is a staple in Filipino
celebrations, and Siquijor's version is
no exception. The lechon here is known
for its crispy skin and succulent meat.
SALABAT
• A traditional ginger tea popular in the
Philippines, salabat is often served hot
and enjoyed for its soothing properties

SALAGDONG BEACH
• Salagdoong Beach is home to the most
famous cliff jumping point in Siquijor.
Both locals and tourists come here in
search of adrenaline. However, if cliff
jumping is not your thing, you can
simply relax on the beach like I did.
The turquoise water and the sand look
extremely inviting.
CAMBUHAGAY FALLS
• Cambugahay Falls is a 3-tiered
waterfall. with crisp and clean warm
water originating from natural springs.
Water from the Cambugahay Falls
flows down about three kilometers
downstream making numerous
wonderful swimming lagoons before it
discharges into the Lazi Bay.
GUIWANON SPRING
PARK
• A serene mangrove forest and eco-park located
in the town of Siquijor, Guiwanon Spring Park
offers boardwalks, nature trails, and
opportunities for birdwatching and kayaking.
LAGAAN FALLS
• Lagaan Falls is a hidden gem in
Siquijor, offering a serene and
refreshing swimming experience
surrounded by lush greenery.

• Held in the municipality of Enrique
Villanueva, this festival celebrates the
