Definition of Descriptive Text
Descriptive text is text that explains or describes a person, place
or thing in a very detailed way. The aim is to give a clear picture
so that the reader can imagine what is being described.
Descriptive texts usually use many adjectives and adverbs to
explain the characteristics or nature of the object being described.
Definition of Descriptive Text
Identification:
contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or object will be
described.

Description:
contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or person by
describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer
describes.

Conclusion:
Summaries the whole description.

Language Feature of Descriptive Text
● Specific participant: has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one).
for example: Bandengan beach, my house, Borobudur temple, uncle Jim

● The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for example: a beautiful
beach, a handsome man, the famous place in Jepara, etc.

● The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present
because it tells the fact of the object described.

● Action verb: verbs that show an activity (for example, run, sleep, walk, cut etc.)

Identification Borobudur is a Hindu – Budhist temple. It was built in the ninth
century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom.
Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

Description Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is


influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed
on a hill 46 high and consists of eight step like stone terrace. The first
five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Budhist
sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular. Each of them is with
a circle of bell-shape stupa. The entire adifice is crowned by a large
stupa at the center of the top circle. The way to the summit extends
through some 4.8 km of passage and stairways. The design of
Borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences
temples at Angkor, Cambodia.

Description Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian


monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.
