WHAT IS CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
CONCEPTUAL presents the abstract or theoretic meaning of the concepts being
studied. It defines the relevant objectives for your research process and maps out
how they come together to draw coherent conclusions.

Conceptual framework is a representation of the relationship you expect to see


between your variables, or the characteristics or properties that you want to study. It
can be written or visual and are generally developed based on a literature review of
existing studies about your topic.

The classic example of this is the concept of “caring”


Researchers undertaking studies of caring need to clarify which conceptual definition
they have adopted.
• In qualitative research, the conceptual framework is developed at the end of the
study to illustrate the factors or issues presented in the qualitative data. It is
designed to assist in theory building and the visual understanding of the exploratory
findings.
• conceptual framework includes the guiding theories or assumptions of the
researcher(s), the goals and expectations of a study, and the formal and informal
theories that contribute to understanding and contextualizing the focal topics of a
study.
• Has three purposes—argumentation, explanation, and generation—when
constructing your conceptual framework. By doing so, you will build a
comprehensive model that will aid in justifying your study, clarifying the relationships
explored in the study, and aligning design elements.
• A conceptual framework serves multiple functions in a research project. It helps in
clarifying the research problem and purpose, assists in refining the research
questions, and guides the data collection and analysis process.
WHAT IS OPERATIONAL
FRAMEWORK
• Operational definitions only tell you how to measure it. In essence, the
operational framework of the research, governs the conduct of the study
which involved three phases, namely, problem identification & objectives
formulation, quantitative approach and report & documentation.
• Provide the lens for interpreting the data, informing what kinds of themes and
patterns might be relevant.
• operating framework is a strategy that a business uses to unify, motivate,
orient, and organize its people around a common vision to achieve
predefined goals within a set timeframe.
• In quantitative studies, a conceptual framework might be used to determine survey
questions or data points, or to generate a hypothesis for explanations
