Fitness Apps
• App 1:__my fitness pal________
MyFitnessPal is an app that allows users to record food consumed and monitor their food composition through a food database. The
food database is compiled by both MyFitnessPal (based in America) and users (who live globally). MyFitnessPal allows users to track
calories, monitor progress toward weight-management goals, and gain support from an online community. Most often, MyFitnessPal
grossly underestimates its users' calorie requirements. It doesn't take nearly enough variables into account. For example, it tells me I
should be eating 2000 calories per day to maintain my weight, when in fact that number is upwards of 3000.If you want the most
streamlined and user-friendly calorie counting process possible, then the Premium version of My Fitness Pal may be worth the
upgrade. Still, whether it's worth the extra cost depends on what you value. MyFitnessPal is one of the most popular calorie counters
right now. The Meal Scan is a Premium only feature that is currently available for users on iOS 16/Android 9 and above, also running
MyFitnessPal version 22.17 or newer with language set to English. MyFitnessPal costs $19.99 monthly or $79.99 annually and comes
with a one-month free trial.

• App 2:____COUCH TO 5K_________

Couch to 5K is a running plan for absolute beginners. It was developed by a new runner, Josh
Clark, who wanted to help his 50-something mum get off the couch and start running, too. The
plan involves 3 runs a week, with a day of rest in between, and a different schedule for each of
the 9 weeks. You can download the Couch to 5K Runner app for free and trial four running
sessions, but if you want to continue you'll need to pay a fee starting at $6.99/£6.99 for a
Premium subscription.

• App 3:__ACTIVE X__________

• App 4:__SLEEP CYCLE___________

Sleep Cycle relies on your smartphone's accelerometer to monitor movement. The idea is that
you place your smartphone near you in bed and that it will register movements. When you are in
deeper sleep, especially REM sleep, it will document this stillness. There is a free version of Sleep
Cycle. This includes features like the smart alarm and sleep tracking. You won't get features like
the sound recordings, content library, or full access to all of the statistics. Sleep Cycle uses on
average 30% of the battery during one night, sometimes more, sometimes less. If you do not
charge your device during the night it risks running out of battery before the morning.
